Prolog

My name is Kai. My full name is Malachi Caroline Lestrange. My family is a tory conservative family and i take pleasure in pissing them off. For example, i am bisexual and i voted for the liberal democrats. I am 18 and live in the outskirts of London with my dad and two siblings (Cedar (19) and Beth (11)) in Heartly Manor.

You see, my great aunt was a Marshal of the royal air force during ww2, king George was grateful for our families long history of service so he gifted her Heartly manor and it’s been with us since. However, my dad felt differently about military service. “i would never lay down my life for the disputes of others” he would always tell us.

Instead, mr Lloyd Lestrange went into crime. Stark difference i know. Illegal weapons trade was what my father wanted to do with his life, and he was successful. He made millions.

Our parents divorced when Beth was 5 and shared custody of us till she was 6, until mum sewed dad for full custody but lost for a reason i don’t know. Later she was found dead in a car crash, but the autopsy said she died from a heart attack seconds before, which was weird because she was in perfect health. I know this cuz i snuck in. Something else definitely happened.

I’m in sixth form studying what i need for a possible future as an officer. I haven’t decided weather i want to be an officer or do what my dad does like my brother, i figured i could decide when i finished my degree. Until then i can just keep moving forward and enjoy the time i have left as a teenager.
