The Grand Adventures of Jeff and Dan: The Dragon War

Excerpt from Benedict the Great Historian’s History of the World

The Great Dragon Age was ended due to a war and not the war that most people thought. Dragonia and Wyrmvale had been in an on and off war for a few centuries. Battles were few and far in between, but when they did happen it usually ended up being bloody.

Leviathan was the Patron Dragon of Dragonia at the time. She fully endorsed the war and was frequently seen giving the troops pointers on warfare and strategies (Some thought this breached the rules of the Dragon Law which clearly states that Dragons shall have no involvement in the wars between men). Having been alive most of the war had given her some unique insights. The war had been rough for Dragonia, causing shortages of nearly everything. Armor and food were becoming scarce even though Leviathan tried to downplay it to everyone.

The reason for the shortage was indeed who they were at war with. Wyrmvale was the crop center for the whole continent of Draco. Their fertile land let even the most difficult crops grow nearly the whole year. Highly trained Gnomes brought the land to life in ways that most people never thought possible. In addition to the foodstuffs that Wyrmvale provided, it also housed the biggest populace of Dwarves in the world. Dwarves were the premier artists of armory and weaponry. They created perhaps the most intricately beautiful and utile armor ever seen to humanoid and other miscellaneous races.

James was the Patron Dragon of Wyrmvale and was said to be the fairest Dragon of all time. As such, he never supported the war since the beginning of his term as Patron Dragon. While relatively young as Patron Dragons go, he led the Wyrms with wisdom and grace beyond his years.

Dragonia lay in the west, Wyrmvale in the south. In the east stood Salamandra. Choosing to remain neutral in the war, Salamandra shared whatever supplies they could with both nations. Fafnir, their Patron Dragon, was a wise old Dragon and disliked most senseless conflict. Salamandra was the only other country with a port and used it to ship its many ores to Dragonia. The country was full of several active volcanoes and left only one safe place for one city, Hellbender. Despite its name, the city was a marvel.

In the north was Drakeland. A place of mystery, death, and snow. Tiamat, their Patron Dragon, hadn’t been seen in nearly a century and no one knew much about the north at the time. Rumors held that the Yeti did magic rituals that kept people from traveling too far north and interacting with them.

Little did they all know that in less than a year, all of their lives were about to change dramatically. A war was coming. A war the likes that no one has ever seen before.
