Snow Days

“Akaashi! Wake up! It’s snowing!” Akaashi is woken up by the shaking and whispering of his husband. “Come on Akaashi we need to go to the park!”
“What are you five?” Akaashi sits up and looks at his husband who is already half-dressed. “What time is it?”
“It’s seven in the morning.”
“You woke me up at seven to go to the park?” The look Bokuto gave his husband was so pure that Akaashi couldn’t help but get out of bed to get dressed. “Fine. Let me get dressed and get a cup of coffee first okay.”
“Yay! I’ll go start the coffee pot!” Bokuto rushes out of the room. Akaashi starts to laugh as he walks to the closet. “Akaashi hurry!”
“Bokuto calm down. The snow will still be there.”
“I know but it rarely snows here. Maybe this time the snow will stick.” Bokuto comes rushing into the room and shoves Akaashi into the closet. “Now hurry!”
“Okay, Okay chill.” Akaashi grabs just a random long sleeve shirt and a pair of jeans. The coffee finishes so Bokuto rushes to make Akaashi a cup of coffee. He speed walks into the room so he doesn’t spill the coffee everywhere. “Okay, I’m done now let me just make me a-” Bokuto hands Akaashi the cup of coffee. “Did you have any coffee?”
“No, I’m just really excited.” Akaashi laughs and walks to the kitchen to switch the coffee to a travel mug so he can leave the house with it. He knew Bokuto couldn’t wait anymore. ” Okay now put your other shoe on so we can leave.” Bokuto looks down at his feet to see if he really did only have one shoe on.
“Wow! I didn’t even notice.”
“I know.” Akaashi laughs as Bokuto bends down to put his other shoe on.
“Okay let’s go.” Akaashi grabs his keys, coat, and wallet and they head out the door. On the drive to the park, Bokuto didn’t say a word. He stuck his head out the window like a dog and didn’t pull it back in until they arrived at the park. “Did you have to keep your head out the window the whole way?”
“No I didn’t, but I wanted to.”
Akaashi rolls his eyes and laughs. He reaches out and grabs Bokuto’s hand. “Well, we’re here now. What did you wanna do?”
“Just to walk around with you. It looks so romantic in movies.” Of everything, Bokuto could have said Akaashi didn’t expect this. He looks up at his husband to see Bokuto looking at him. He loves when Bokuto surprises him like this.
“Okay. I like the sound of it.” Bokuto starts to walk down the sidewalk and holds on tight to Akaashi’s hand. With the sun hidden behind the clouds and the snow falling towards the ground the morning was very peaceful. The snow was at least four inches tall. This was really rare for Tokyo, the highest the snow ever gets is at least two inches. The walk is quiet. Barely anyone was there since it was only seven something in the morning. Akaashi enjoyed the silence. He enjoyed spending time like this with Bokuto. The way the snow fell was like a dance show being put on just for them. The way the sun hit the snow when it peaked out from behind the clouds was like there were thousands of tiny diamonds mixed in with the snow. The way Bokuto smiles at the sky made Akaashi’s heart melt. Whenever moments like this came around he saved every little detail in his mind so he could look back at the memories. “Bokuto.”
“Yes my love?”
“Thank you for waking me up this morning. I am really enjoying spending time with you.” Bokuto leaned down and kissed Akaashi on the top of his head.
“Of course.” Akaashi wrapped his arms around Bokuto and dug his face into Bokuto’s chest. Bokuto was a little surprised at what was happening but didn’t care he enjoyed it when Akaashi did this. Bokuto hugged Akaashi tight and kissed Akaashi’s head once again. They spent at least two minutes like this. Akaashi un-wrapped himself and looked at Bokuto.
“Okay let’s continue the walk.”
“Okay but first I need to do something.” Bokuto looked down at the ground and saw that there were at least six inches of snow. He looked at Akaashi and smiled. He let himself fall to the ground. The snow flew up in the air and it made Bokuto laugh.
“Bokuto what the hell.”
“It looked fun in my head, and my head was right.” His laugh echoed throughout the sky. Bokuto had an addictive laugh. It was definitely a laugh that made others laugh along with him. So Akaashi couldn’t help but laugh along. “You need to try it.” Bokuto looked at Akaashi and somehow convinced him with just a look. So Akaashi turned around, closed his eyes, and let himself fall towards the ground. The feeling of the air hitting his back was cold but satisfying. When his back hit the ground he opened his eyes to watch the snow fly around him. The way that everything happened made him laugh even more. He turned to look at Bokuto and when his eyes met Bokuto’s he fell in love with him all over again and made him remember something his mom said.
あなたのソウルメイトを探しているとき。 あなたが何度も彼らに恋をするようにする誰かを見つけてください。
When looking for your soulmate. Look for someone who makes you fall in love with them many times.
Akaashi knew from the moment he met Bokuto that he was his soulmate, but he loved when he was reminded. He looked up to watch as the snow fell to the ground. He tried to watch as each snowflake danced in the sky, but was distracted by the sound of his husband standing up.
“Let’s keep walking Akaashi.” Bokuto reached his hand out to help Akaashi stand up. Akaashi grabs his hand for stability and wipes the snow off his pants as he stands. Bokuto leads them around the park a few times. As they both start to get tired they head back to the car to drive home. On the way back they talked about making cocoa and watching movies by the fireplace, and that’s what they did for the rest of the day. They both called in sick to work and spent the day together. When the day was over they headed to bed. Akaashi dreamt about today over and over again. For this day would become one of his favorites.
