The day has started like any other for anyone unaware of magic. Children heading to school by bus, walking, or ride from someone. Everything appears to be that way but for Raya Jenkins things are about to get very odd.
Raya is at her part time job since she doesn't have any of her college classes today. It is a pretty slow day at the coffee shop so she works on some homework that is due in two weeks. When the bell rings to signal a customer, Raya gets up and heads to the counter.
The customer is a beautiful woman with long raven black hair. Raya notices that the woman's eyes are a startling shade of purple. Raya has never seen anyone with such haunting purple eyes before. She keeps calm as she offers to take the woman's order.
Raya strains to hear what the woman is saying at first as it is soft and not in English. She asks politely, "I am sorry, I couldn't understand that. Could you please repeat it?" She is trying hard to be polite but that moment her body feels like it is on fire. Raya's emerald green eyes change color to ice blue before going back to normal.
Unaware of what her eyes have done, Raya doesn't know why suddenly this mysterious woman looks so pleased. Raya is feeling dread as chills go down her spine. She blinks as she demands, "What on earth? What are you doing to me?"
She feels the burning sensation continue before settling into her core and making her scream in agony. Strange marks are appearing all over her skin as she falls. Her manager runs out in time to see what is going on. He panics and calls his friend a fae who warned him that one day a chosen warrior of magic would be revealed in his business.
Moments after the phone call a stunning pale elf like figure appears with long silver hair flowing down her back. Her eyes are ice blue as she looks at the one casting the spell to reveal Raya's origin. She casts a protection spell over Raya's body just as Raya passes out from the intense pain. She picks up the girl as if she is light as a feather and looks to the manager, "We must leave now. Hold onto me, I will get us to safety."
The man nods as he holds onto his friend's shoulders and in a blinding flash of light the fae, man, and girl disappear from the coffee shop. The fae female brings them to a place protected by strong magic. Already there are traces of silver hair flowing along Raya's dark brown hair. It is time to prepare because this signals a war that is about to start after 2000 years of calm.

Raya opens her eyes a couple of hours later feeling as if she has been run over by something. She sees she is not in the coffee shop or in any room that she knows. It is a bedroom with a soft bed. Everything is forest themed in this room. For some reason it puts her at ease as if she has been brought home. The forest has always felt like home to her.
She is still in her work clothing but it is her reflection that shocks her. She sees in the mirror that her hair has turned silver and grown longer in her sleep. Her eyes are now ice blue in color. Raya screams and falls onto the floor in shock. This is not what she was expecting to see upon looking in the mirror.
Her manager, Adam, enters the room upon hearing her scream. He says, "Calm down, Raya. You are fine. I have something to explain to you and so does my friend. What is happening to you, it is normal for a half fae. I know I don't make sense, please come with me. I will tell you all that I know."
Raya looks at him like he is crazy. She shakes her head as she says, "I have been kidnapped by crazy people. What the hell have you done to my hair and eyes? Who was that crazy woman? What the hell is going on?"
The fae who has rescued her sighs. This fae doesn't like dealing with humans much. She says, "Lower your voice, little one. You are safe here and stop blaming Adam or myself. Your own body did that to you. Half fae are human until the day of their 20th birthday. In your case, it has been drawn out a year early. So calm your emotional human half before I send you back to sleep myself. I am not in the mood to deal with a half fae being an emotional wreck."
Upon saying her piece, the female fae disappears from the doorway and heads to the living room. Raya is in shock and it takes Adam to pick her up and carry her to the living room. Adam says, "Aliss, I don't think she knew she was half fae. We may need to do more than explain why she was targeted."
Adam sets Raya into a chair and gently pats her shoulder before sitting on the couch with Aliss. Raya demands to know, "What the hell is going on? Fae are myths and why is some crazy nut after me?"
Aliss growls softly as she says, "Brat, you are getting annoying. Never annoy a fae, we are not like those little fairies you humans are so fond of calling us. Fae are far more deadly then a winged tiny creature. Once humans worshiped us. Then they hunted us with that horrible metal that you humans are so found of. Now shut up and listen to what I have to tell you."
Raya's ice blue eyes widen in shock at the tone as the room feels a lot colder all of a sudden. Aliss finally calms down and the room warms back up as the fae female settles back into her seat. Aliss starts her tale, "5000 years ago things were peaceful between witches, fae, and humans. Humans came to the fae for blessings. However, fae demand a cost with each blessing given. Most were willing to pay for they dearly wanted whatever was being offered."
Raya says nothing but her glare is proof that she is not impressed with the tale so far. Aliss is tired of catering to human emotions so she ignores the glare and continues with her tale. Aliss speaks of the past as if she is living in it still.
Aliss explains, "After 3000 years of peace, humans changed and started to crave the power that the fae and witches had. Not all humans can use magic, so they started to kill witch covens when they found them. I am sure you heard stories about witch hunts from your human textbooks."
However she pauses with an annoyed looked. Aliss growls, "Annoyingly inaccurate is what those are. But anyway, fae was forced to hide in our hills unable to leave because of the iron that humans wielded to start killing us as well. Many fell as months of war broke out. It was magic against human. Humans almost lost the war. So hope was in sight for the magic side. That is when the humans did something horrible. They poisoned the magical energy that flows around us with something a witch from our side gave them. The witch betrayed us all."
Raya speaks up at this point, "So if that is the case how come you are still around and why would I be half fae? Sorry to burst your bubble but this doesn't sound like it has anything to do with me. It sounds like a problem you had. Now you are dragging me into by changing me into this twisted being."
Adam sighs as he says, "She speaks the truth. I know because I was alive 2000 years ago as a human. I didn't think what was going on was right, so I went to the fae queen and asked for help to stop the war. She gave me a deal but the price was my mortality. She made me immortal taking away my chance at living a normal human life. It is not a joke when everything the fae does comes with a price."
Raya shakes her head as this doesn't explain what has happened to her. She scowls at them with clear disbelief before saying, "Even if I was to believe that lie. That still doesn't explain why I am looking like I am. I have emerald green eyes and dark brown hair before it changed to this strange ice blue eyes and silver hair. I am a human. You two are talking crazy talk. Immortal? Fae? No way, there is no way I am connected to any of this. You two are clearly on some sort of drug or are crazy."
