Babylon
Below the night sky are echos of thunderous roars and bloodcurdling cries of terror. Raging fires paint the night sky orange; the blood of fallen warriors paint the Earth scarlet. The attack on Babylons Temple was in full effect. The one hundred year war is finally coming to an end ,but one choice will change the course of history forever.
A lone knight stands in a clearing. The bodies of fallen warriors, men and dragons alike litter the battlefield. The knights armor glimmering as the sun dawns over the horizon. The Dragon King Titanius, kneeling before the knight ,breathing heavily. Streams of blood running down his battered body pooling around his knees. Shamefully he raises his head, looking up to the knight towering above. In this pitiful state he can’t help but wonder, “is this how the ones I looked down upon felt?”
The knight tightened their grip and raised their sword, Titanius widens his eyes as if the gravity of what’s about to happen has just fell upon his shoulders. A chill runs down his spine, his heart is nothing more than a stone in his stomach, his fingers tremble more and more as he tries to steady them. Titanius for the first time, fears for his life. The clatter of his teeth; the lump in his throat; the twisting in his stomach; the weakness in his knees. Even his bones trembled at the thought of what’s to come next. Titanius is afraid.
“Wait!” He cried. “You have bested me. Please do me the kindness of telling me your name, so I may remember it in the after life.” Titanius pleaded. The knight stood as if they were a statue and did not utter a single word. “Please we can exchange names. I’m Titanius ,ruler of this land...was the ruler. It’s all yours now.”
Titanius could not see the eyes of the warrior ,but he could feel their piercing gaze through the shadowy slits.
Titanius throws himself back narrowly avoiding a fatal blow. He scrambles, trying to regain his balance ,but his face is driven into the blood soaked dirt. The knight standing on his head preparing to sink their blade into his neck. Titanius knows this time ,they won’t miss.
Titanius feels his heart beating through his head. Titanius watches as the knight raises their sword ,fixated on the stream of blood running from the tip of the blade to the hilt of the handle...Badoom! Badoom! The sword lunges at his neck, eager to feast on his blood. BADOOM! BADOOM! BADOOM!
“WAIT! WAIT! PLEASE DON’T KILL ME I’LL DO ANYTHING!” Titanius cries out shamefully.
“What do you have to offer ?” Titanius is shocked to hear a woman’s voice ,but relieved to know he has a chance to live. “If you spare my life I can grant you any wish.” He says. A moment passes, “what kind of wish ?” The knight asked curiously.
“I’ll give you anything within my power.” Titanius explained. The knight uttered only a single word. A word that came only with absolute defeat. “Submit”, the knight commanded. Titanius closed his tearing eyes, he exactly what this meant and so he did.
A seal was placed on the spirits of dragons taking away their free will, making the lone knight their master. Forged in defeat, the unbreakable bond between man and dragon was created forever merging their paths.
