What is your opinion?

Truly addictive

"Clever. Well written. Documented. Surprising. With a bunch of improbable and deep characters you get to like even if your common sense shouts not to. There's a sort of tenderness in describing situations from different vantage points, without judgement or patronising. A deep understanding of human complex mind and motives. Just read it and expect the epilogue to blow your mind. "

Great story and great action.

"Extremely well written and a plot that keeps the reader dying to read more. The author succeeded through many repetition to shed light on a theatre-like scene happening on a single spot, yet from diverse points of view, literally. The repetitions make the scene become clearer from chapter to chapter and give a great style and rhythm to the action. A lot of descriptions happen here and there shedding great knowledge in areas unknown to me until now. I enjoyed most of it. Another proofreading is necessary for a few repeated words and tiny typos. I’d love to read another novel from Julian. Thanks for the book!!"

Addictive. Underrated. Fantastic!

"This book is honestly so underrated. I literally could not stop reading it. I was so impressed with how well-written the storyline was. The way the characters intertwined with each other's lives throughout the story, and how you managed to include an "elephant" in each person's perspective...absolutely incredible. I've told numerous people about this story since. Julian, if I can give you any suggestions - I would extend the story. Make it longer. Write more chapters!! And then if you need to include the epilogue, do it in a smoother way. I would have read on and on and on. It felt like the ending was a bit abrupt, and I was slightly disappointed. Some grammatical/punctuation errors, but those could easily be fixed. Other than that, FANTASTIC story. Would 10/10 recommend, and read again!"

The elephant

"Not Being a Football Fan did slightly spoil this book for me . However it's quite Brilliant in its approach to not only football violence etc ! But the great quotes throughout the Chapters . It's well written well throughout and I believe based on Actual events . The knowledge of the Authors vast accounts through history are the most interesting for me . Would make a great Film . "

Interesting read

"This was something that I was not expecting at all. The way things intertwined together-the stories of the different characters-was good and fit together. I would fix up the writing and punctuation of the story. Overall, interesting and a good read."

First impressions.

"I think the prologue was a good choice and I can almost close my eyes and imagine this as a Danny Boyle movie. The prologue was definitely a step in the right direction because I can already tell by the pace of the first chapter that this is a slow burn type of story, culminating into something larger. The description and the characterisation are superb, with a few little hiccups, I felt like some of the dialogue didn't fit the impression I was getting of dog as a total meat head. Just some of the things he's saying about movies sound more like the authors voice than his own. He sounded more like a film critic than a bodyguard but I understand you're going with a tough with the heart of gold type of trope. The writing style works well, I'm English and I find it hard to write about English people in general haha. But this handles it well. Some of it seems a little choppy, but overall it's written well. My only criticism I save for last, I realise I'm making a first impression of the first chapter and the prologue, but in a first chapter 'stuff' has to happen. And I think you realise that due to the implementing of the prologue injecting a little action but you also have a lot of time where you're telling when you should be showing. There are parts where we see dog's thoughts and I thought that was a little lazy in a third person narrative. And particularly at the end of the chapter I felt an urgency to develop a plot when previously in that chapter it was just a couple of guys chatting about films and not a lot else. I just really felt the bit where he thinks to himself about the bodyguard job it was a little shoehorned in and could have been worked into his dialogue a little bit easier than it was delivered right at the end of the chapter as an attempt to hook. Overall it's a very competent read and I enjoyed very much. I could see this being professionally published."

loved the intertwined stories

"Very nice read. Lots of surprising treats from: Schrodinger’s cat and dervish dance forms; to sensei masters and brownian motion. I wasn't expecting this, so it was a pleasant discovery. Also liked the 'cross-over' events connecting one character's/or group's journey to another. I like how that was written from their unique perspectives."
