"At this point in the story, there's still too much that could change in the plot, so I'm looking forward to reading more. Blenda's personality is unclear since she claims to be determined to become the first woman at the king's war table, but she constantly loses her focus. I feel like this author's strength is the action scenes. The first chapter as well as the group fight are very well written. I recommend giving more attention to interpersonal relationships and the display of emotions. Blenda has the potential to become a strong female character (without becoming ruthless and uncaring) as long as she keeps her cool around Arthur and allows the relationship to develop at a natural pace. This is an ongoing story, so my opinion is based solely on what I've read so far. Among the werewolf stories I've read, this one stands out by its originality. While Blenda finds herself in great danger, she's no damsel in distress and that alone would make me want to read this book. Her quest to push society's boundaries and carve a place for women at the King's War table is exciting and, even without the romance, makes this story an enjoyable read. There is room for improvement regarding the main conflict and her interactions with Arthur and the other competitors. The backstory for each of them is still vague, but that's not something I would criticize in an ongoing first draft. There are some seriously interesting characters around. If there's something I can totally get behind and commend the author for including it in this book, is a sensitive, kind man. Arthur has the reputation of a strong alpha and can be pretty savage, but he's never anything other than doting and chivalrous with his mate. That's something I've come to resent in werewolf "love" stories, as they can become pretty toxic and violent towards the women they supposedly love. This is a breath of fresh air."

"The plot is confusing to follow. To begin with, backgrounds and their significance aren't well developed. It feels like reading a good idea badly executed. I prefer for stories to balance out emotions and maintain a level of excitement /happiness. So far I mostly feel confusion, stress and irritation."
