Prologue

Alfred Madaraba was a normal kid in an abnormal world, he was a short brown haired kid with pale skin and a penchant for getting himself into trouble. His mother was Alia Anne Madaraba, the american wife of his rather successful father Susumu Madaraba. Who was a scientist who was studying the impact of the Mythos Deities on their world now that they had come and been sealed away into the 7 Pillars. Now the Arulant walk the earth, children born after the sealing with special powers linked to the Mythos Deities and other works of Lovecraftian Lore.

Alfred was not one of those kids, at least he didn’t think he was, he had never shown any kind of special power beyond being an avid reader since he had turned 4 and he’d never been sent an invitation to join one of the many schools that now littered the world, training the Arulant in combat as well as keeping them safe from prejudice and teaching them all they would need to know to survive in the world.

Alfred panted as he ran through alleyways on the way to his perfectly normal school in his perfectly normal neighborhood, he would be late again he knew. It was always like this, he would sleep in while his parents were gone on some trip to study some new Arulant in the world and he would always end up at school late, peice of bread hanging from his mouth as he jogged. He picked up speed and jumped, grabbing onto the top of the wall of some Arulant school near his house and vaulted over it.

He, however, was not expecting to land in the middle of two Arulant teens fighting and to see a fiery sword being swung at him from one side, while a silvery blade with jagged teeth swung from the other, his brain began running through what he could do, could he dodge? no, they were moving to fast and the Arulants wouldn’t be able to stop their swings in time now, he squeezed his eyes shut and shouted, before he felt nothing, no searing heat burning his flesh, and no blade cutting into him, slicing at muscle tissue as he expected.

He heard the muted whispers as he opened one eye and looked towards the people who had almost killed him, and two huge books, seemingly bound in human skin had appeared to intercept the blades on their pages, the eye on the front of each opened, blinked, and glowed. “Install Complete.” He abruptly passed out.
