Chapter 1

"Stella, your gonna be late for your first day!" I sighed and got my bag. "Okay, Mom. I'm coming." I called. It was my first day at Conroy Prep. Was I exited about it? To say the least, no. But I wanted to let my mom think I was happy. So that's what I have been doing. I went downstairs and looked at the plate on the table. Moms specialty. French toast with cinnamon and icing. I sat down and started to eat. "You don't look happy." "No, mom. I am. I really am." I lied. Mom eyed me but did not push it any further.

"Thank God."

I thought. I checked my phone for any messages from my friends back home. I sighed when I saw none. "Don't worry, Stel. I'm sure they will text you." Said mom. "Yeah." I said only half believeing that. I quickly finished my food and got my keys. "Bye, mom. Love you." I went out the door.

I gasped at the sight of my new school. Conroy was so big. "Yeah. I'm gonna get lost." I said. I went up the steps. I got my papers from the office and looked at my classes.

Great. At least not all my classes are boring. I love art and chorus. And even the teachers name sounds cool. I walked into a classroom and sat down. I saw a boy look at me. He had the greenest eyes I had ever seen on a boy. I could not stop staring. He was so beautiful. The boy smiled at me. "Hey! Kelly!" He turned to a boy who called his name. "Kelly." I thought. I smiled a little and sat down. The teacher walked in. "Okay, everyone. Settle down. I see we have a new student today." He looked at his list. "Stella Kidd?" I blushed. I raised my hand. "Yes, sir." "Care to introduce yourself?" "Uh...." I looked around. Then at Kelly. "Well, my name is Stella and I just moved her from Florida. Miami, to be exact. I've never really been to a private school. So, this is new to me. Along with the cold temperature." The class laughed. "Thank you, Stella. Welcome to Conroy." "Thank you, sir." I said. "Now, on to equations."

The bell rand. I gathered my stuff and went out the door. "Hey! Stella!" I turned and saw Kelly looking at me. "Oh. Hey. Kelly, right?" "You remember." "Yeah. Of course. I'm not one to forget names." "I see that. What's your next class?" "Um, history. Mrs. Smith." "No way. Me too. Wanna walk together?" I blushed. "Uh, yeah. Sure." "Okay. Cool."

Unfortunately, I did not have 3rd period with Kelly which ment I was on my own. I walked into art class and saw an empty seat by a girl. She smiled at me and waved. I decided to go sit by her. "Hi. I'm Slyvie Brett." "Stella Kidd." "Nice to meet you. So, I saw you and Kelly together." "Oh. That. No. He was being nice. You know, helping out the new kid." "Well, you better not let Erin see you around him. That's his girlfriend. Or on and off girlfriend. Don't know where they are at now. Way too hard to even keep track anymore. Anyway, Erin Lindsay is a real bitch. So, do not be on her bad side. It she even thinks your trying to take Kelly away from her, she will make your life a living hell." "Oh. Well she has nothing to worry about. We're just friends." I said. "Okay. If you say so." Said Sylvie. I took out my sketch book. I sighed and thought about Kelly. I liked him. But now I knew he was off limits.

I went to lunch. Sylvie invited me to sit with her and her friends. I saw her sitting down. She waved me over. "Guys, this is the new girl I told you about, Stella. These are my friends, Gabi, Joe and Brian." "I go by Otis though." "Don't know how. It's no where in your name." Said Joe. "Hey. It sounds cool." "Whatever you say." Said Joe. I smiled and sat down. I unwrapped my sandwich. "Look out. Here comes the bitch." Gabi whispered. I saw Kelly walk in with a girl on his arms. "That's Erin?" "Hell yes. The biggest bitch at Conroy. Erin Lindsay. She things she is hot stuff. But really she's not." Said Gabi. "Yeah. Makes everyone worship the ground she walks on. But not us. That's probably why she hates us." Said Otis. "Yep. Right on the nose. But I don't care. That girl is a big

perra.

" Said Joe. "That means bitch in Spanish." Said Gabi. "Yeah. Got that." I said. "Oh, look. It's the loser squad. I see you have a new member." "Why don't you leave us alone for once? I'm pretty sure your late for your boob job." Otis snickerd. Joe said nothing. "Your just jealous cause you wish your boobs were as big as mine!" "Yes. Cause I want them flapping whenever I walk. I'm not a slut like you." "What did you just call me?'" "A slut. I can say it in Spanish for you. You are a

puta.

Erin Lindsay is a

puta!"

"You better back down before I get you deported to Mexico." "One my family is from Puerto Rico, not Mexico. It's a rasict comment. Second why dont you go screw your boy toy?" "Maybe I will! Come on, Kelly." Erin left. Kelly waved at me. I waved back. He left. "He looks so unhappy with her." I said. "He is. But he's scared to test her. Everyone is." "So, Kelly just stayes with her in order for her not to hurt him. Poor guy." I said. "Yeah. Well, what are you gonna do? Plus, she knows things about him that no one else does. That could be a reason why she has him under her grip." Said Otis. Now I really felt bad for Kelly. He was in a relationship he did not want to even be in. And that was so not cool. I sighed. "Maybe I'll be able to talk to him for a while. See why he puts up with her crap." I thought. I nodded. "That's what I'll do." She said. "What?" Asked Slyvie. "Talk to Kelly." "Better not let Erin see you. She hates us enough as it is." Said Otis. "I know. I know how to play this." I said. I smiled as I thought of a plan. Erin would never know I talked to him. No one would.
