For that alone, I give the author a big golden star! Character-wise, the group is funny, interesting, with a pinch of sassy. And yes, that includes the men. Love the moments of slapstick comedy and lighthearted humor as well. I can't wait to see what happens next!"
Full of Action and Suspense - Sins from the past 💜
"I had the greatest pleasure of reading this book, different style for me but brilliant. The concept without giving anything away is all action and the suspense it's is insane. I have manage to read the 10 chapters that are up smashing job and the final chapter I have read which I know there will be more but simply brilliant leave everyone craving more till you add another chapter. Worth the read love the name "Sins from the Past" fits the story completely💜"

"I thoroughly enjoyed this as our heroine comes into a disaster of a start with her new job. Not only is her boss gone, he’s dead. On top of which, his sins from the past combine with her own difficulties from her past job to make for a very tense start to her tenure. When a lawyer comes calling, her luck doesn’t hold, but since they are in agreement of what must be done, they begin to sort out the way forward. Their questions end up stirring more trouble and danger at every turn, such that I couldn’t wait to read the next page. "
Fun so far!
"The prologue sure was exciting. Meg's journey of making it to the small town for a new job has been a fun ride. I sure would have loved to get a better feel of the museum itself. The tone, humour and Meg as a character shine. Maybe by ch 4, the pacing could pick up a little by introducing the "sin" and skull aspect, even what the lawyer's after as a hint like a letter from him, or some sort of foreshadowing. I am so looking forward to where this one goes. :D Note to Author: In my opinion, having read another of your novel, I think this on flowed so well, and the narrative was a lot smoother maybe due to the tense choice. :) "
No Bones About It--This Book is Worth a Read!
"Firstly, as an anthropologist myself, I really appreciated the opening quote by Franz Boas whose books I utilized during my college days, because it essentially set up the very real-world ethical questions about antiquities and who essentially holds the "rights" to them. This was an issue that continually came up during my studies and essentially drives the entire narrative of the story whereas it concerns the stolen remains of a tribal chief. Meg as the central protagonist is instantly likeable, and given the drama of her previous place of employment and the embezzlement scam which forced her to leave after getting pink slipped, this sets up the ensuing drama of the stolen bones into play, The town in which the story takes place could be anywhere and reflects good old down home American values--nothing too terrible or scandalous could EVER occur there, but the author does a fabulous job with the intro chapter and the seedy cloak and dagger atmosphere of--let's be honest--grave robbing for personal glory and financial gain. It is an ugly, degrading crime to the tribe whose leader's remains were so disrespectfully disinterred and desecrated, and it provides a dichotomy between the protagonist and antagonist later on in the story. "

It is such a well-crafted story and the plot flows so naturally that you’ll get to the end of what’s available and click that refresh button hoping for more. Well done, author. "Sins From The Past manages to hook the reader up in its opening chapters, in part because of its masterful prose. Even when no significant events are unfolding, the writing style excels, and linguistic errors are nowhere to be found, though it does get overwhelming and overly deep at times. As for the plot itself, I for one was slightly disappointed that the main conflict took too long to surface, but I indeed enjoyed the setup. Meg’s start to life in the museum is quite relatable, and Gwen right here makes it easy for us to root for the protagonist. I must say, though, that I had trouble understanding the prologue chapter; maybe it’s because I didn’t go deeper into the book just yet 😅. Overall, I’m more than willing to go on with this book. "The story is quite interesting, with the beginning, the people hiding in the dark, illegally digging up the remains of an Indian chief. It then moves a few years ahead to Meg, and how she sort of stumbles into the town of Barnsford after a massive scandal at her previous museum. However, minus those two events, there really isn't much besides ideal chit-chat. The author does have a beautiful and near-professional writing style. She details a clear picture in the readers' heads without using too many or any unnecessary words. Also, her character feels like they each have their own voice."

"Back with yet another thrilling adventure, Gwen Thames has constructed a small town ripped right out of the South, filled with the typical Southern Hospitality but also an underlying, uneasy mystery as the first couple chapters develop. The prologue kicks it off strong in the middle of an action-packed grave robbing scene some time prior to the start of the story, adding to the question of what exactly is going on in Barnsfield. The slow-developing plot left you more curious after each chapter, building the town effectively, though I do wish there were maybe a little more hints dropped before chapter four/five when things really started to heat up. Like always, Gwen has a real knack for great prose--think I only found one spot of telling that might've worked better shown, in my opinion--and the grammar + punctuation was on point. Excited to continue reading and see what Gwen has up her sleeve with this one. Great job!"
Interesting Commentary
"This book is quite good so far. I can't give it a proper score out of ten yet because it's not complete, but I enjoyed what I read. The way I interpret it, this book is supposed to be a commentary on colonization and exploiting indigenous ethnic groups for self gain. I have a feeling that later in the book, the three teens are going to realize the morality of their actions and defy their superior. That's just my prediction, you don't have to confirm or deny it."

"While the writing style is strong and the characters are interesting, the main topic of the book isn’t really my preference, as it feels more like an adventure type of story. This caused some parts to feel a bit slow for me. However, I appreciate the quality of the writing and the character interactions, which kept me engaged to some extent. Overall, it’s a solid read and I would recommend it to readers who like drama and adventure."
