I was sweeping the floor of the castle steps when I heard the sound of metal clashing against metal ringing from the training area. I quickly rushed over to the tower window, looking down when I saw the knights practicing their swordsmen skills.I unintentionally stared down at them fighting wishing I could be a knight myself. I wasnโt like the other maids in the castle I loved the idea of riding on a horse in full armor and a sword fighting in battle. I didnโt even wear the same clothing as the other maids. Everyone wore a shirt tight short sleeve top that had a V cut with a long skirt and apron. I hated what I was forced to wear,I took one of the boyโs trousers, I still was forced to wear the top but was thankful they didnโt make me wear the skirt. Anytime I would tell anyone my dream they would laugh and say โyou canโt do that you a girl!โor โA knight! You must be jokingโor even โgirls are only good for cooking and cleaning! They canโt be knights!โ
I was watching the knights as they practiced. I tightened my grip on my broom and held it up as if it were a sword imitating the knights below โAMARAAAAA!โ โAH!โ I yelped slipping off a step sliding on my butt sliding down 30 steps. I groaned laying back on the steps I closed my eye but then I saw her my boss โAMARA! GET OFF YOUR LAZY ASS UP AND CLEAN THE STALLS!โ She yelled with her bitter tone spraying spit as she spoke. I groaned โyes maโamโ i say as I get up I rub my butt since it was a bit sore from my fall. I grab my broom and head to the horse stalls.
I watched the knights as I walked passed to the stalls wishing I could be one of them. I didnโt care if would be the only girl, I wanted to be a knight. I unintentionally was staring at them as i daydreamed when I ran into a post causing me to fall backwards โshitโ I swore under my breath as I rubbed my forehead. I got up when one of the knights run over towards me โare you alright?โ He asked โnever betterโ I reply โshouldnโt you be wearing a skirt?โ He asked making me roll my eyes โtechnically yes but I donโt like skirts, why do you care?โ I ask โgirls are suppose to wear skirts and dresses not trousers!โ He raises his voice at me โI CAN WEAR WHATEVER I WANT!โ I said I bit too loud getting the attention of others โgreat!โ I thought as I crossed my arms โno you canโt plus your only a maid you have no say in anythingโ he says pissing me off โoh really?! Fight me then!โ I yell โI donโt fight girlsโฆbut your getting me madโฆso I guess Iโll take you on!โ He say leading me to where he was practicing. I started getting lot of looks making me a bit nervous, but I was determined to prove myself.
He handed me one of the swords. I held it gazing down at it, I gripped the hilt as I faced him. I took a deep breath in โI donโt like this idea Gabrielโ I heard the commander say โoh come on you think I canโt defend myself?โ I say knowing they thought I couldnโt I knew I could I studied all their moves and how each one of them fought using that as my advantage. โSee she wants to fight!โ Gabriel said pointing his sword at me. I roll my wrist twirling my sword then holding it close to my head my arm and the sword parallel to each other โbring itโ I say holding the hilt tighter as he ran towards me. I blocked his attack moving to the side as I twisted my sword in the perfect way making him lose his grip, I knock it out of his hand as It flew I ran jumping grabbing his sword I turn to face him both swords in my hands hitting him giving me the victory. I turn seeing everyoneโs jaw dropped especially Gabrielโs, I smirk handing him the sword walking proudly to the stalls.
