Night Terrors

The swirling screams of fear and despair whirling around in a never ending tornado that wouldn’t let up, no matter how clear the pathway was or how many forces of nature tries to break it up. Nothing stood a chance to this circling onslaught of rushing wind and debris.

"Blooooooooom!!” the fading voice echoed, getting lost in the wind that seemed to get stronger and faster as it carried on in it’s never-ending tantrum. And what stood in the eye of this raging storm? What could possibly keep the eye so calm while the outside showed every emotion accept that? None other than a famous red-headed heroine who could only face a mirror of her darkness.

“Bloom! Blooooooom!” Stella called out, shaking her best friend awake from her slumber as her body glowed, torn between her fairy form and her default.

“Huh? What?” she finally woke up, the glimmering light fading away as she rubbed her eyes, looking around at her friends who some looked concerned, others looked unbothered, and others looked flat out annoyed, pointing the last expression specifically at Princess Stella.

“You did it again!” Stella whined/seethed, her beauty rest once again disturbed by the girl’s night terrors. Bloom muttered an apology, only to have the blonde stomp out the room, hearing her snores not too long after.

“Are you sure you’re ok, Bloom? This is the third time this has happened ever since you defeated Valtor. Maybe you should go talk to Headmistress Faragonda?" Flora sat on the edge of her dorm-mates bed, placing a hand over hers in comfort.

"I think I'm ok, Flora. I think I'm just still getting used to my new Enchantix powers. They're still not complete even though I can transform and use my fairy dust" she dismissed the thought of talking to Faragonda after all she's done for her and her friends.

"As logical as that sounds, I agree with Flora that you should bring the issue up with the Head of Alfea" Tecna spoke up, typing away on her laptop with one hand. "I've been doing some research and there's nothing about transforming in your sleep on Enchantix fairies" she said, not even looking up from the screen.

Bloom sighed. "Ok. Tomorrow after class, I will talk to Ms. Faragonda" she offered a slight smile and she got a few of them returned as they all piled out of the dorm and Flora went to her own bed while Bloom laid back and internally groaned.

It's only been 5 days since they got back from defeating Valtor. She knows he's not alive, she can't feel his flame. It's extinguished, so...why the night terrors? Why the screams and cries of despair in her sleep? With that being her last thought, she fell asleep.

It's after class and here Bloom was, in front of the huge double doors that lead to Faragonda's office. She gently knocked on the wood, hoping that the headmistress wouldn't hear, but she always does. She heard a 'come in' on the other side of the door. Taking a deep breath, she pulled open the door and walked inside over to the desk where the gray-haired lady sat with a soft smile on her face to see one of her favorite students.

"Ahh, Bloom. What a pleasure. How can I help you?" her warmth brought a smile to the girl's face as she sat down, taking another deep breath.

"Hi, Miss Faragonda. You see, there's been a slight issue" she paused, watching the elder lady's smile fall and turn serious. "You see, well, I've been having night terrors again, transforming in my sleep. Do you think it has something to do with my Enchantix powers being forced and not gained?" she fiddled with her thumbs in her lap as the teacher studied her.

"Possibly, Bloom. Do tell, what do you see in your terrors?"

"Just a tornado. It doesn't move though. It just stays in one place and swirls" Faragonda nodded and stood up, guiding the young student to follow suit.

"It doesn't seem or feel as though there is a disruption with your powers. Maybe it's no more than just a night terror. I'll send you to Nurse Ophelia and maybe she can give you a potion that will calm your mind as you sleep" she walked around and patted her shoulder.

"Yes Headmistress" she walked out, a strange feeling of defeat and satisfaction as she made her way to the Nurse's wing of the school lingered around her. She passed by a large mirror and stopped to look at her reflection for only a moment, not knowing the dangers that lurked inside. She walked away, but her reflection remained and shimmered.

Professor Palladium just so happened to be walking by and noticed the shimmering but it was dotted so badly, he couldn't make out the student's reflection. "Oh dear" he muttered as the figure of a girl floated in the glass. Uttering a quick enchantment, a sheet covered the entire mirror, concealing it from anyone else who happened to walk by. He checked his watch, running off to grade projects that were probably on the verge of exploding by now, hoping that this was nothing to worry about.

That night, when Bloom had drank the calming potion Ophelia had given her and was drifting off to sleep, the girl in the mirror poked and prodded at the covering, using her cat like nails to slice it open until she could slip through it. Checking the hall for any late nate wanderers, she headed off, her feet not even touching the ground while she disappeared out into the dark forest that separated the three schools of Magix.
