1 - I’m Home!

"We have to talk about it sometime, Jazz." Peter says.

"No, we actually don't. Why can't we just pretend nothing happened?" I reply, walking away from him faster.

He darts in front of me and cuts my path off, making me stop in front of him. I sigh deeply before trying to walk around him.

"Peter, move." I demand, still not looking up at him.

"I'm not moving until you tell me what's wrong." he tells me.

"There's nothing wrong. I'm fine. You're fine. We're fine." I lie.

"Is this about MJ? Because I told you I don't like her. Not that I understand why you would be upset if I did." Peter states.

"Wh-. No, this is not about MJ." I respond softly.

"Then what is it about?" he queries.

"It's about you! You go out there everyday and you risk your life. And I'm supposed to-. What, wait for you to get back to the compound safely?" I question in a whisper.

"That's what friends do, Jazmine. Friends support their friends. In everything that they do." Peter rebuts.

"I don't want to just be your friend, Peter!" I exclaim too loudly.

I know what you're thinking. How did I end up in this situation? Well, since you asked so nicely, I'll tell you. It all started when I decided to come home to my parents and my little sister.

Yes, I'm her. Jazmine Stark. Daughter of reformed playboy billionaire, Tony Stark. We're straying off track, though. This is how it all began.

January 16th

I drag my suitcase behind me into the compound as I take a sigh of relief. I carry it up to my room and I unpack my things quietly, careful not to spoil the surprise. Once I'm done, I head down to the main room and I stand in the doorway.

"Like I was saying, HYDRA may have been off our backs since The Blip but that doesn't mean they won't attack when we least expect them." Dad says.

"We getting what you're saying, Stark. But why can't we just celebrate the fact that we won while we can?" Cap asks.

"What I'm saying is-." Dad begins.

"Mr.Stark?" someone cuts in.

"Yes, Parker?" he responds.

"I, at no point, want to alarm you. But there's a girl standing in the doorway. She's been there for at least 5 minutes." the boy states.

My dad finally looks over at me and his expression of concern turns to one of annoyance. He rolls his eyes and I smile.

"That is no way to treat your child. Especially one who loves you as much as I do." I tut.

"Jasmine!" Mom exclaims.

She rushes up to me and crushes me in a hug, giving me not choice but to hug her back. Once she pulls away, I smile at her.

Then I notice that everyone else has come over. I playfully salute Bucky and Cap. I hug Thor and Bruce. I give Wanda a thought and she smiles.

Nat comes to give me a hug as well. Clint shakes my hand before I finally turn to Sam. He gives me that look and I automatically know.

We begin doing what Sam calls the "Soul Sister Handshake". He likes to joke and say it's because two black people should be able to have each other in a group full of white people. The last person I have yet to greet is my dear father. I go into give him a hug and he shakes his head.

"Why are you here?" he questions.

"I live here. Unless you want to return me to the adoption agency. After 18 years, I don't believe they'll give you your money back." I joke.

"I mean-. Why are you home from boarding school, Jasmine?" Dad asks again.

I sigh before finally telling him why I'm really home.

"I want to transfer. Try school here in New York. Boarding school's not really my thing." I mumble.

"What?! We spent way too much money putting you into that school. You can't just "transfer." he tells me.

"He has a point, Jazz." Mom chimes in.

I turn to her and I begin to shake my head.

"This is your fault! You guys adopted a black daughter. If I was some uppity white bitch, I would love a school like that." I tell them.

"Language!" Cap exclaims.

"Sorry, Cap." I say.

"Is this about what happened to-." Dad begins.

"Dad, can we just talk about this later? I just flew in from London. I don't want to argue right now. I want to see my little sister, too. Plus, you've had to miss me. I mean, it's me." I state.

He contemplates it in his head for a small minute before finally caving in. Dad smiles at me before coming in to give me a huge hug. Probably huger than the one Mom gave me.

I pull away from the hug and I turn my attention to the boy that ratted me out, who was weirdly still sitting at the table. I walk over to him and I hop onto the table.

"I'm sorry for ratting you out. I've just never seen you before."

"Well, I'm not usually here. But, you probably figured that out. What's your name?" I ask.

"P-Peter Parker." he stammers.

"Hello, Peter Parker. I'm Jasmine Stark. It's nice to meet you." I tell him, presenting hi, with my hand.

He shakes it and gives me a shy smile. I smile back at him before pulling my hand away.

"Are you an Avenger, too? You're certainly new." I state.

"Spider-Man. But Peter is just fine." Peter says.

"Holy shit! You're pretty cool. I've heard about you all the way from London. Mostly from my dad." I tell him.

"Mr.Stark talks about me?" he queries happily.

"Yeah. Most of the time, he says you're just like me. He thinks of it as an insult but it's an honor to be just like me. Even as an Avenger. Well, technically, I haven't actually gone by Avenger name in a while." I reveal.

"You're an Avenger?" Peter questions.

"You're telling me they haven't told you about Pink Lightning?" I respond, a little hurt.

His facial expression turns into on of pure shock and he gasps.

"You're Pink Lightning? You're a legend around here. They're always talking about you. Especially Bucky. He thinks your hot." he says, instantly regretting that last part.

"Oh, does he?" I ask, smirking a little.

"Please don't tell him I told you that. I wasn't supposed to." Peter states.

"Don't worry, Spidey. Your secret is definitely safe with me. Secret keeping is kind of my thing."
