Last Living Gaunts | D.M

It was a dreary rainy morning at Wool’s Orphanage. A certain small girl sat in the very room that belonged to a certain dark wizard before — Tom Riddle before he changed it to Gaunt.

She was named Talia Merope Gaunt and she was cold hearted to everyone — especially to the matrons. Yet, she has the charm to remain timid but nobody liked her.

She she began to loathe everyone.

The Headmaster was freaking out, pacing in his office. There is a Gaunt heiress? Last thing he heard was that the Gaunt line died out years ago.

How is it possible? It can’t be true.

But alas, the Headmaster put his courage on and headed straight to where he has terrors of that place — where Tom Riddle belonged.

Before he went insane.

“Yes?” the matron said strictly as she eyed the man cautiously.

“Greetings, I am Albus Dumbledore. I am here to visit Talia Gaunt if it’s possible” Albus say calmly, not wanting to show panic.

The matron went sheet white “E-excuse me?”

“Please let me see Talia Gaunt” Albus asked again.

The poor matron nodded jerkily and nudged her head to Albus to follow her. They both walked about three stories high and soon enough, they came across a door that is marked ‘TMR’ and ‘TMG’.

Calming his erratic heartbeat, the matron knocked the door, “Talia? Somebody is here for you”

“Come in” a very soft feminine voice sounded

from the door.

The matron nodded in good luck and left Albus alone.

Albus opened the door and he could’ve sworn he saw double.

Talia looks like the same copy of Tom Riddle but in a female’s body.

“How do you do, Ms. Gaunt? I am Albus Dumbledore” Albus greeted, trying not to sweat.

Talia didn’t bother to look at him “Fine. What is your occupation and reason for the visit?”

Sweating, he discreetly inhaled “I am a Headmaster from a school called Hogwarts. I have come to let you know that you are accepted in the school”

Talia turned to see the Headmaster from eye to eye. Albus internally shivered.

Those blue eyes with flecks of red will surely give him nightmares.

“A..school?” Talia asked softly but monotonously with raised brow.

The Headmaster nodded “A school for special children - like you and me” he explains.

“You’re being ridiculous. A school for special children? I do strange things” Talia scoffed with an eye roll.

The Headmaster sighed “What can you do, Ms. Gaunt?”

“I can make things move without touching them. I can make animals do what I want them to do, without training them. I can make bad things happen to people who annoy me. I can make them hurt if I want to” Talia said monotonously, words flowing on her tongue smooth like honey.

Albus paled. Those were the exact same words Tom said fifty years ago.

“I can do strange things too, Ms. Gaunt” Albus say, keeping his grandfatherly appearance up.

“Prove it”

Albus looked at Talia and the closet behind him engulfed with flames, making Talia jump in surprise.

“Go on” Albus beckoned “Look inside there”

Talia stood up and slowly emerged to the flaming closet and she peeked in - a letter envelope. She took it out and it read ‘To Talia Gaunt, room 301 at Wool’s Orphanage’

“Do you need a adult to take you get your supplies?” Albus said, wanting to get out.

“I can manage, thank you” Talia say, sighing when the door shut.

‘I would say that I can speak to snakes’ she pondered ‘But oh well’

Talia put the letter away in a desk drawer and wondered if that school is worth going.

Albus arrived back to his office drenched in sweat. There’s concerned professors minus two who looked really bored. They came after a very urgent patronus call.

“Albus? You okay?” Minerva asked “Need a handkerchief?”

The Headmaster let out a breathe “I visited Talia Gaunt today”

Professor ‘Quirrell’ sat up straighter at the mention of the name. A head underneath the purple turban cried silently. His sweet daughter is alive? Oh how he wished he was there. Is she okay?

The head under the purple turban loves his daughter. He spoiled her endlessly. He regrets leaving his daughter. But due to the war, it was impossible to stay with his heiress.

“How was the visit?” Minerva asked slowly, flabbergasted that the Gaunts are still alive.

“Intense” Albus admitted, sweating more “She..those eyes were haunting. The orphanage was..” letting out a shuddering breathe.

“And the orphanage was..?” Minerva asked, getting a answer.

“Wool’s Orphanage” Albus finished.

Severus Snape withheld a sharp intake of breathe at the name. That place is what his Lord lived there years ago. The man under the turban gaped unnoticeably when his daughter was there.

“She looked just like him. Clever too” Albus said truthfully, popping a lemon drop that is laced with a calming draught.

The man nearly snarled but couldn’t help with be in awe how his daughter was a copy of him.

Hopefully, Talia would forgive him but the possibility is low.

But he can’t wait to see how much his daughter ha grown.
