There is a custom in the land of Brookstade, one where those eligible gather in the great room in the palace of the second king and queen, the magic kingdom. During that time the Rose of Thorns will be produced, one at a time a woman will be chosen at random to prick their fingers. Then the men who are eligible, have been linked to the rose by magic, will begin to bleed, uniting the two forever.
