‘…This isn’t right…it doesn’t add up…how is the audience not reacting to all of this…?’

Abraham was watching the newest episode of “Danger Spectacular!!”, a very notorious game show hosted in Venus City. The contestants were put in dangerous, and very deadly, situations and the audience clapped as the poor contestant of the day died right in front of them…

“Can we go home? It’s been three hours and you’ve been watching the same episode this whole time. I doubt anything will change.” Juno, Abraham’s EYE Agent, was sitting in one of the very uncomfortable station chairs as if it was an armchair. He wore a very finely trimmed suit and round, red-framed shades were over his eyes. Despite the fact that his job was to help Abraham with investigations such as this, he was ready to give up on helping with this one.

“But what if it does…?” Abraham asked, replaying it again and watching closely.

“You’re not getting anywhere, Detective…” Juno sighed, adjusting his glasses and trying to move his hair out of the way of his eye.

“You don’t know that.” He shrugged, continuing to watch.

“I personally don’t think this is about the investigation for you, Detective Glass,” Juno smirked. He was about to continue but he was stopped by Abraham looking at him with an expression of confusion.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” He asked, closing the laptop and looking at Juno.

“I think this is more of an…enjoyment thing for you.”

“What? No! What kind of sick and twisted—”

“I’m just saying. You’ve been obsessing over this particular episode for a while…what was it called? ‘Shark Attack!’…?”

“…it’s ‘Shark Attack 2’…”

“My point exactly, Detective,” Juno sighed, getting up from the chair and sitting beside him, “You’re obsessed.”

“What’s even so…interesting for you about this particular episode?”

“Okay, check this out.” He said, opening the laptop and skipping the unimportant introduction bits from the host. He skipped to a particular part in the episode where the contestant finally hit the water full of man-eating sharks. And they were hungry. Blood and guts splattered everywhere across the stage…but that’s not what intrigued Abraham so much about this…

“What’s your point, Detective? I’m very tired of this and am not in the mood to watch this gore-fest unfold.”

“I’m not focusing on that…I’m focusing on this.” He moved his cursor to the audience cheering and clapping like this was the best show they’d ever seen.

“Question. Is it common for people in Venus City to act like that…?” Abraham asked, looking to Juno, “You’d know about that more than me.”

Juno laughed.

“Do you think we’re insane, Detective? Of course this isn’t normal for us.”

“Anywho,” Juno clapped, “it’s getting quite late, isn’t it? How about we continue this investigation tomorrow, hm?”

Abraham sighed.

“Do you have another one of those rich parties to attend again? Is that why you wanna leave so bad?”

“I…” Juno chuckled a bit, nervously, “I don’t go to those. They’re…not my scene.

“Siegel. Don’t lie to me. I was at the last one and saw you there.

“…well then…I thought you’d think of me differently if I spent my nights drinking away my worries with well-dressed people.”

“I don’t think of you any less. I do the same but in my apartment…without the well-dressed people.”

“…Well…would you like to attend with me as a plus one since I’m going? I don't want to leave you all alone."

Abraham shrugged his shoulders and smiled a bit,

“It’d be really shitty of you if you up and left me…so, sure. It might be good to take a small break from work,” Abraham continued, “But don’t expect me to act like I’ve got a stick up my ass. Or talk politics. …or dress nice—”

“Okay, can we meet in the middle about the dressing nice part? You’d look nice with your tie done and your shirt tucked if you tried it…”

“No way in hell.”

“Why not, Detective?”

“…reasons.”

“Oh,” Juno snickered a little bit, “don’t tell me that you don’t know how to tie a tie.”

“I totally can! Watch me!”

He couldn’t.

“Omnipotent beings have mercy.” Juno was laughing up a storm.

Shut up…

“Do you need help with tying it? Because I’d be happy to.” Juno still had an amused smile on his face.

“…yes.”

Juno was quick with undoing the absolute mess he’d caused with his tie.

“Aaaaand…” Juno was talking delicately and carefully to him, “done. See, all better.”

“What am I, six?”

“You have the stubbornness and bad temper of a child in a supermarket, so I’d say yes.”

“And maybe tuck your shirt in? Trust me, you’ll look good.” Juno smiled, his sharper than average teeth showing through.

“…Fine…since you asked so nicely.”

And he did.

“Huh…I actually kinda like this.” Abraham was stunned about how this new style felt to him. It felt like he actually cared about his appearance for once.

“And maybe try buttoning your coat too.” Juno was slowly buttoning his coat up, smiling gently. He left a few buttons undone.

“Hm…what else is there?” Juno pondered, tapping his chin a bit in thought.

“Mess with my hair and I won’t talk to you ever again.”

Juno laughed.

“Fair enough I suppose.”

As Juno and Abraham got in their cars and said their goodbyes, Abraham got home to his apartment. He was sitting on the couch and was trying to search up the invite list for the party that night. And with a lot of luck, surprisingly. He saw names that were very famous in Venus City: politicians, celebrities, and the like. But he couldn't believe who was on the list...

"Holy shit..." Abraham instantly went to call Juno about his discovery.
