The Royal Romance

It was a nice spring night in the kingdom of Camelot, it's quite different then the kingdom little kids are told about from the stories of, King Arthur and his knights of the round table. It's prettier and it's close to the United States of America, the castle was full with people, Princesses and Ladies from all around the kingdom where there and they where trying to win the heart of the prince.

In the crowed was a blond haired woman, her hair was down and curled, she had a silver hair clip in her hair, she has sparkling ocean blue eyes, she was dressed in a white ball gown that had gold trim. A smile was planted on her face as she waited for someone to arrive to the Ballroom, this woman is named Layla Starlight, or how she is addressed in Camelot as Lady Layla Starlight. She has told no one in the palace that she is from New York, except the prince, and his 3 buddies, Logan, David, and Maxwell.

As she was waiting for the prince a brown haired princess who had brown eyes, and was dressed in a pink ballgown that had gold trim, walked over to Layla. She had a smile on her face, "Hey Layla," She said, the blond turned around to see her close princess friend Anna standing in front of her. "Hey Anna," Layla replied, "I see your waiting for your prince to come and sweep you off of your feet." She said teasingly, Layla giggled at her friend's sense of humor and teasing. "Very funny Anna, but to answer your question seriously. Yes I am waiting for the prince to come and sweep me off of my feet, just from being here I feel like I'm meant to be here." Anna nodded and she could see that Layla meant what she said due to the truthfulness in her voice and sparkle in her eyes as she spoke.

Then a cocky red haired woman with purple eyes approached the two friends, her hair was in a bun, and she was dressed in a purple floor length dress, the sleeves where off the shoulder so her shoulders where exposed, she had a smirk on her face. "Why hello Layla," She said, the blond knew that voice anywhere it was Princess Olivia O'Neil. She has always disliked Layla but the feelings where mutual between the two court ladies competing for the prince's hand and heart. Olivia thought that her chances where higher with the prince since she grew up with him, not knowing that there was something special between Layla and the prince. "Hello to you to, Olivia." Replied Layla in a casual tone, not trying to cause a seen, "Do you really think that you have a chance with the prince?" Olivia asked, Layla kept her smile since she was saving a dance at the ball for the prince. "Why would you be asking me that?" Layla asked,

"Oh it's nothing really, just be ready to lose." Olivia replied with a laugh, "Yes of course, Olivia may the best woman win the prince." Layla said ready for the competition to get underway, Olivia walked away with a cocky smile on her face as she thought about how she could make Layla lose the competition, once the redhead walked away the guy Layla has been waiting for showed up. Prince Nathan of Camelot has entered the ballroom, his dark blond hair was neatly combed, his tuxedo was as sharp as ever and his brown eyes where locked on Layla.

Nathan smiled and made his way over to Layla, Anna moved out of the way so that she could give Nathen and Layla some space. "Hello Layla," He said, the blond almost melted at how calming his voice was and how he said her name. "Good Evening, Nathan, I know that you may not have a lot of time now but would you mind saving me a dance this evening?" Layla asked sweetly, she could see the sparkle in Nathan’s eyes when she asked him to save a dance for her. "Of course, I would never dream of not saving you a dance, I wish that we could dance the whole time just you and me. I also wish that this entire competition could end already since I already know who I want to be my queen." Nathan said lovingly, Layla knew that he wanted to pick her as his queen right when he met her again at the opening ball of the competitions.

"I know how you feel Nathan, but we shouldn't delay go and meet everyone I will be here waiting for you." Nathan nodded and walked off to greet the other guests, when he left Olivia came back since she saw how close Layla and Nathen where. So she went to ask the blond haired female what her connection is to the prince, "What is your connection to the prince?" Layla didn't turn to face Olivia since she knew that the redhead was behind her. "Why do you ask?" Layla asked, "Well I saw how close the two of you where and I want to know, have you met him somewhere before?" Layla smiled, "You could say that I met him, Once Upon A Time." The blond began having a flashback to when she met the prince as she began to tell Olivia her story.

*Flashback: New York City; Manhattan*

Layla was working at a restaurant in Manhattan, New York. She was in the back taking out the trash with her co-worker Mickle, "I'm going to be completely honest with you, I hate this job of taking out the trash." Mickle said, Layla nodded her head in agreement as she tossed the last trash bag into the dumpster. "Yeah If only things where better." Layla said with a sigh, "I agree, but we both know that we can't afford the other jobs in the city." Mickle said before there manager Danial walked out. "What are you both still doing here? Get inside now we have guests," He said angerly, "Well excuse me, you where the one who asked us to take out the trash, Danial." Layla said, but Danial got mad at her, "Don't talk to me like that, now both of you inside and serve those people." Danial roared before he walked away,

Layla sighed and so did Mickle, "I guess the boss has spoken, come on Layla." Mickle said, Layla nodded then they both walked back into the restaurant so that they could serve the guests. Mickle went behind the bar and Layla waited for them to walk into the dining room. After 5 minutes 4 gentleman walked in they where wearing very nice tuxedos, Layla felt drawn the the dark blond male. Layla smiled and went to do her job, she walked up to them, “Welcome, you 4 gentlemen can follow me to your table.” She said as she grabbed the menus and walked to a booth, she placed the menus down and the men sat down.

“Hi I’m Layla and I will be taking care of you this evening, is there anything I can get for you?” Layla asked, “Do you guys have a wine selection?” One of the men asked, Layla nodded. “Yes, we do but if I were to make a suggestion it would be the Pink Rose.” Layla said and the 4 men had shocked faces, since that wine was native to their home country. “We have it in Red and White,” the men nodded and the dark blond haired man turned to Layla. “We will have it in red and could we have a whole bottle of it?” Layla nodded and she walked to the bar. Mickle brought out the bottle and handed it to her, “Here Layla, and could you take over for me? I need to head out early for my nieces birthday party.” He said, Layla nodded, “yes go on be with family I will take care of things here.” Mickle smiled before going to get his stuff, Layla brought the men the bottle of wine and she served them like she normally would.

After they where done and they paid, the brown haired man looked at Layla. "Could you tell me what attractions are open at this time of night?" He asked, Layla thought for a moment before answering, "Many night clubs are open right now, I can escort you to one if you wouldn't mind." Layla replied, he smiled and nodded. "Yes please, you see it's mine and my friends first time in the city and we would love the help." Layla smiled, "Ok, let me get my stuff and then I will change into the extra outfit I have at my apartment witch is by the night club I'm taking you boys to." She said before walking away, she grabbed her stuff and clocked out of work, then she left with the boys.

They walked down the street to Layla's apartment, she went into her apartment, she put her stuff down before she walked into her closet and pulled out a green floor length dress, she fixed her hair before she went to put on a pair of black heels. Once she was done she grabbed her purse and exited her apartment and met back up with the boys, Layla started to lead them to the night club where the 3 out of the 4 men had a blast on the dance floor while Layla and the brown haired man sat at a table.

"I've never seen them have this much fun in my life." He said, "Really, do you not get out much?" Layla asked, he shook his head sadly. "No sadly we do not, mainly me. So we went on a vacation for once so that we knew what the outside world looked like." Layla nodded her head, "I see, well was there something you wanted to do while you where here that you never got to do?" Layla asked, he thought for a moment. "I always wanted to see the Statue of Liberty." He answered then he remembered something, "I never told you my name, I'm Nathan." He said finally introducing himself, Layla giggled. "Well Nathan, why don't we go." Layla said he looked at her confused, "Go where?" He asked, "To see the Statue of Liberty of course," she said standing up, "But isn't it closed right now?" Nathan asked, "Just come with me, and don't worry about them, they are too involved with dancing." Layla said pointing to Logan, David, and Maxwell having a grand time on the dance floor.

Nathan laughed at how crazy his friends where being, then he turned back to Layla. "Alright, let's go." Nathan said smiling at Layla who smiled back then she grabbed her purse and they left the night club. Layla led Nathan to Liberty State Park, once on the boardwalk they looked out into the water at Liberty Island where the Statue of Liberty was standing tall. "Was there any reason why you wanted to see the Statue of Liberty?" Layla asked, "It's because she resembles freedom, something I have very little of. I know that I should have mentioned this before hand but I'm a prince, the prince of Camelot. It's my last day in freedom and I wanted to see the symbol of freedom at least once before we left." Nathan explained, even though the info she got was a lot to take in Layla nodded at what he said, "But Layla how are we going to get over to the island to see it up close." That caused Layla to smile as a boat pulled up to the railing, Nathan was in shock but he followed Layla down to the beach where they boarded the boat.
