Chapter 1 - Dylan's POV
I wake up to the stream of light peeking in through the gap in the curtains. I have no idea how much sleep I got, whether it was two hours or ten. What I do know is that the sun was already up when I eventually passed out.
I turn around and see that Sam has just woken as well, “Morning beautiful.”
“Good morning,” she says as she smiles at me.
I pull my wife over closer to me. I love the way she looks when she wakes, sleepy eyes and messy hair.
“Last night was fun,” she says while running her fingers through my hair. I swear a single touch from this woman sends me into a frenzy.
“It sure was, are you interested in a repeat performance?”
“You bet your sexy ass I am!” Sam smiles as she leans in to kiss me, starting off soft and gentle then turning heated. She moves so she is on top, straddling me, still maintaining the kiss. We’re both still naked from last night, or should I say the early hours of this morning. I let out a moan as I run my hands up her silky legs to her ass which I grip hard. “Mmm,” she moans as she pulls away and sits up. My eyes roam her beautiful body as she gently runs her nails down my chest. Just as I’m about to move my hand between her legs my phone starts ringing.
“Shit,” I groan as Sam flops on top of me and I reach for my phone.
Phone call - Dylan: Hey Ma
Phone call - Jessica: Dylan what time are you coming over today?
Phone call - Dylan: What time is it?
Phone call - Jessica: 2pm
Phone call - Dylan: 2pm!
Sam jumps up looking at the time. We’d been up all night but hadn’t expected to sleep most of the day.
Phone call - Dylan: We will be over soon. Do you need us to pick something up?
Phone call - Jessica: Yeah please sweety, can you grab me some milk? I would go myself but your sister is winding up Dale and they are driving me crazy!
I laugh as I hear the exasperation in my Mum’s voice. I’m not surprised though, J.J and Dale are always winding each other up.
Phone call - Dylan: No problem, we will see you soon.
Phone call - Jessica: Thanks sweety, although no rush. Stay in bed a while longer and make me some grandbabies.
Phone call - Dylan: Mum!
I feel Sam’s eyes on me after my outburst and I’m sure she can hear Mum laughing on the other end of the phone.
Phone call - Jessica: Love you.
Phone call - Dylan: Love you too.
I hang up and look at Sam who is still straddling me and still looking hot as hell. “Busted!” I smirk at her and I watch as her face goes tomato red. She quickly covers her tits with her hands as if my Mum were in the room with us.
“No way, how did she know?”
“I dunno,” I shrug, “but this is my mother we are talking about, she always seems to know everything,” I laugh as Sam shakes her head with a smile.
“Is everything alright?” Sam asks and I’m confused for a moment before I remember she would’ve only heard my side of the conversation.
“Yeah, she just needs us to pick up milk. Baby girl and Dale are driving her crazy.”
“No change there then,” Sam laughs before getting up and moving off of the bed.
“Hey!” I call out to her and she looks over her shoulder giving me the sultry look that could get me to go to war for her. “Where do you think you are going?”
“Shower,” she says with so much sass that I raise my eyebrow at her. I’ll show her.
“Not on your own you’re not.” I smirk at her before I make my move. I launch myself off of the bed and she runs into the bathroom giggling as I chase after her.
Once we finally emerge from our long, hot, sexy shower we get ourselves ready and head to my parent’s house, of course remembering to pick up milk on the way.
“We’re here!” I shout out to announce our arrival to everyone. My family has dinner together every Sunday. It’s compulsory, if you even try to get out of it you feel my Mother’s wrath.
“Hey sweety, hey Sam. Thanks for getting the milk for me,” Mum greets us both with a kiss
and a hug. My Mum is a beautiful woman who stayed home to bring us all up rather than pursue a career. Family is everything to her, all of us actually.
“Alright son?”
I turn as I feel a hand upon my shoulder.
“Hey Dad.” My Dad is a very successful lawyer, owning his own law firm. He’s worked very hard to make sure we have never wanted for anything and lived more than a comfortable life.
I’m Dylan and at 26 years old I’m the oldest of six siblings. Sam and I have been together since high school and got married a couple of years ago after I passed the bar. Yeah that’s right I followed in my father’s footsteps and became a lawyer.
“What’s up bro?” I hear Luke call out and I nod in his direction.
“Where’s Kelly?” Sam asks him and he points towards the door.
“Bathroom,” he answers. Luke is 22 and engaged to Kelly, also high school sweethearts. Luke’s not quite sure what he wants to do yet but he’s swaying towards the emergency services so he is currently taking the exams and training for the physicals.
“Hey guys.” Nathan comes in from the other room with his girlfriend in tow.
“Nate,” Nathan is next in line, he is 19 and in college. Nathan is getting his degree in business as he wants to own his own company one day and he is doing well. Nobody likes his girlfriend Kristy but you can’t tell the kid.
“Is Caleb kicking about?” I ask everyone.
“Here man!” I hear him say as he comes into the room. He stops and looks Sam up and down. “Sam, looking good,” he winks at her. I shake my head and laugh at the asshole.
“How many times Caleb, you’re too young for me,” Sam laughs at him, he places his hand to his chest to feign being heartbroken. Caleb is 10 years younger than me at 16 years old. He hated school so with the permission of our parents he enlisted for the Navy. He wants to transfer to the Navy Seals but needs to wait until he is 17. Mum told him he could join as long as he still comes to family dinner every Sunday. We have tried explaining to her that it doesn’t work like that but she is having none of it.
“Thank god you’re here! She’s doing my head in!”
“I don’t believe that for a second little brother,” I laugh as Dale looks like he is about to blow a gasket. Dale is the youngest of the boys at 14 years old. He’s at the age where it’s all about girls. He’s also very good at landing himself in hot water just by opening his trap!
“DYLAN!”
“There’s my baby girl! Come give me a big kiss.”
My baby sister comes running into my arms and I lift her up smothering her in kisses as she giggles in my arms.
“Stop it!” She giggles. Jessica-Jayde or J.J as we all call her is the youngest and the only girl. She’s only 6 years old. Yeah finding out at 20 that my Mum was pregnant was a shocker to say the least. Caleb took it the hardest as he was disgusted that Dad was still pumping Mum. Mum and Dad call her a later in life baby but we wind her up and call her an accident. She has us men wrapped around her little finger but she drives Mum insane.
“The food smells amazing Jessica, do you need a hand?” Sam asks and Mum turns to her with a smile.
“No you’re fine sweetheart, Kelly asked earlier and like I said to her I just want you to relax.”
Sam looks at me and I smirk letting her know I caught on to the dig my Mum just made about Kristy.
Before long we are sitting at the table while my Mum dishes out the food.
“What is it?” Kristy asks with her nose turned up.
“Beef stir fry,” Mum tells her without even looking in Kristy’s direction.
“Oh.”
God could she be any more pretentious. Kristy is platinum blonde, big boobs, heavy makeup and designer clothes. I often wonder why she is with Nathan as she looks down her nose at our family. She looks fake and acts entitled.
“If you don’t like it you don’t have to eat it,” Mum says with an underlying message that she isn’t making her something else.
“Sit down baby, the kids are old enough to get their own plates,” Dad says to Mum with a smile he reserves only for her.
“I’m not allowed to carry plates Daddy.”
“That’s right pumpkin, you keep smashing them so now you have a plastic one.”
My sister giggles as Dad smiles at her.
“So how’s training Caleb?” I ask as we tuck in to the feast Mum has provided. I’m sure that woman thinks we don’t feed ourselves from Monday through to Saturday.
“Yeah great man. Had some pretty intense physical training this week so I’m pretty sore. It’s all good though I’m meeting Erica tonight and she’s promised to help me relax,” he says wiggling his eyebrows, causing the rest of us to laugh.
“Is that right?” Luke asks him while looking at me and we both shake our heads.
“Caleb you shouldn’t objectify women,” Kristy says to him with an attitude that stinks of shit.
Caleb looks at her before smirking, “I’m sure Nate objectifies you when he has you bent…”
“Hey!” Nate stops Caleb before he can finish his sentence and Kristy sits there with a shit eating grin.
“Feel free to objectify me anytime baby,” Sam whispers to me. What is she trying to do to me?
“Nah Kristy is too prissy to get bent over!” Dale says loudly.
“Dale!” Mum yells as Dad slaps him upside the head but I can see the slight smile on Dad’s face.
“What about you baby girl, how was school?” I ask J.J and Mum and Dad groan while Caleb and Dale start laughing.
“Good.”
“Just good?” Luke asks her.
“I got into trouble,” she confesses and I look between my parents who aren’t giving anything away.
“What did you do?” I ask her and she looks up at me before letting out such a big sigh for a little girl.
“I slapped Lucas.”
“J.J, why did you slap Lucas, I thought you liked him?” Sam asks, looking confused. It was only last week that they were best buddies.
“He told me he was going to marry me then kissed me,” she says so matter of fact.
“He what!” I am livid. Why the fuck are boys kissing her? She’s fucking 6!
“That’s what I said!” Dad throws his arms in the air as if I’ve just proved a point for him.
“You made it worse!” Mum yells at him and Dad furrows his brows.
“I don’t see how.”
“You told a 6 year old that if he ever went near your daughter again you would remove his Dad’s arms and legs!”
My brothers have already heard this story because they are sitting sniggering. I’m struggling to keep a straight face.
“It’s not like I threatened to hurt the kid!” Dad says, trying to defend himself.
“You’re unbelievable!” Mum points her fork at him.
“And you’re sexy when you’re angry,” he winks at Mum. My Mum can’t help but smile at him.
“Dad I dunno how you saw this anyway, didn’t you just pick her up and leave?” Dale asks him.
“Her teacher wanted to talk to me first. Dad explains although I’m still confused.
“You never told me that.” If looks could kill my Dad would be a goner right now with the way Mum is looking at him.
“I couldn’t get a word in for you shouting at me,” he smirks at her.
“What did the teacher want?” Nate finally asks the question we are all thinking.
“Turns out pumpkin here fell asleep in class on Friday.”
“Way to go sis!” Dale laughs.
“Surely first grade isn’t that boring?” Kelly says to J.J who just shrugs.
“Told you school is shit,” Caleb laughs.
“Baby girl why did you fall asleep at school?” Mum asks her softly.
“I was tired,” she says and I start laughing.
“Yeah but why were you tired,” I ask her. “Did you not sleep the night before?”
J.J shakes her head while eating her stir fry.
“Did you have a nightmare?” Mum asks her and she shakes her head again. My brothers and I snigger, it’s like trying to get blood from a stone. Dad puts his cutlery down and gently places his hand on her shoulder. J.J looks up at him with those innocent eyes of hers.
“Well why couldn’t you sleep pumpkin?”
“Mummy was praying too loud.”
“I wasn’t praying,” Mum says with confusion.
“Yes you were, you kept shouting oh god, oh god, oh god. You even said Jesus Christ.”
Dale sprays his drink and Luke chokes on his food while Caleb sits there horrified and Mum goes bright red. I can’t even look at my Dad because if I do I will burst out laughing.
“If you could just excuse me a minute.” I watch Sam leave the room and I see her shoulders moving. That little shit is leaving to laugh.
“Well we will just need to make sure Mum prays quieter from now on,” Dad says as he smirks at Mum.
“Dom!” The look on Mum’s face right now is hilarious.
“That’s just nasty,” Caleb says with his face screwed up.
“I’ve lost my appetite,” Dale adds. Yup, there is never a dull moment during a Peterson family dinner.
