Chapter 1 Steve
It was three days after graduation and I was contemplating starting my summer internship before leaving home for college. My best friend, Derick, walked into my room, unannounced as usual, and bounced on the foot end of my bed.
“Let’s go do something.” He said.
“Like what?”
“I don’t know. How about we go get some cheap ass wine and go behind the church and get snot faced? You know, like we used to do. For old time’s sake.”
I shrugged my shoulders.
“C’mon. Pretty soon we’re going to be those adults that we’ve always despised. Let’s get drunk and be kids while we still can.”
“You know if you get me drunk and I miss my dinner, my Mom’s going to be pissed.”
“She’ll get over it, besides, she’s probably already missing you, you college bound piece of shit.” And he smacked me over the head with my own pillow.
