Chapter 1
“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”
―
Martin Luther King Jr.
“I know you want it so stop struggling” he whispered in my ear making me shiver.
I almost couldn’t utter a word. I was terrified.
“N-no.” I managed to say.
“p-please don’t hurt me, I promise I won’t do it again. Please!”
I knew he wouldn’t listen. But I couldn’t help it I’d rather him do anything than what he wanted to do to me right now. My throat started to sting due to crying and screaming for him to stay away. If only I stayed away If only I didn’t try to play “Hero”.
“C’mon the fun hasn’t even started and you're already quitting”
I finally looked up at him only to see him smiling so close to laughing like the true sicko he was. It finally sank in. I was in a dark place and no one would know where I am or if I was in danger.
It looked like he saw how scared I was and clapped his hands as he came to a realization.
“since your such a pussy let’s play a game ok?”
“O-ok,” I said hoping that I could find a way to escape.
“hmph! You look so happy. You think you might be able to escape, well let me tell you, we’re in the gym. Of the school”
Our school was big which is why many people used bikes, scooters, or even cars to travel around the school. The gym was about three-fourths of a mile away from the front of the school
“If you make it out of the school before midnight then I’ll let you go but if I find you then you know,” he said joyfully.
It’s eleven o’clock
He’s looking down on me.
I was too scared to say anything so I just hummed a small “ok”.
“You start in 30 seconds, got that. Little miss track star~” he said using my old nickname. That I hated.
“GO!”
With that, I ran for my life. scared of what would happen if he caught me. I ran.
There were four buildings that I need to cross to get to the entrance. After crossing the first building I turned around to check my surroundings and I could see a faint shadow behind me. It was jake. I couldn’t afford any more stops so I continued. after a while I could feel my body slowly weaken with each step.
By the time I reached the end of the third building, I was already close to fainting due to dehydration. With the marathon going on in my heart I wanted to give up.
But that was not an option.
It was either escape or get tortured.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“ah!” I screamed as I tripped over and trash bin. the pain was excruciating but I can’t stop now.
“Please not now,” I said as I felt blood trickling down my foot as I tried to stand up but failed miserably and plummeted down to the floor.
There was glass in my foot.
But I couldn't, and wouldn't stop. I started to crawl.
I felt the pain with each movement, Each muscle.
I was so close to the entrance but couldn't move. I felt a shoe crush the glass in my calf.
"NO, STOP please I'm so sorry please! ugh, ahh!"
"LIA, LIA wake up!"
"ugh, what do you want It's too early to be screaming," I said knowing full well why my dad woke me up.
I had been having nightmares since what happened for a while. My dad Is always too worried while I'm convinced it's Just nightmares and nothing else. But I understood him but I was too tired to ask for help, I've had enough of the situation. I don't want to spend hours of the day talking about something that happened in the past.
"You're going to the therapists."
