Chapter 1
Finally unpacking the last box in the bedroom, Jimin let out a relieved sigh. He looked around the well decorated room and nod his head in satisfaction. It’s the third day since he permanently moved to Seoul after spending two years in Daegu with his friend Yoongi. He was happy that he finally got a decent stable job in a reputed company and got his own place to stay. His life was pretty much set and now he could finally focus on other things that life has to offer.
Jimin had a hard life with an ignorant unloving mother and an alcoholic father. Only person who understood him and cared for him was his older brother. When the time came as they grew up, his brother ran away from home at the age of seventeen while Jimin was only thirteen. His brother promised to come back for him and take care of him when he earns enough. Even though Jimin kept waiting, his brother never kept his promise and he never returned. But Jimin was able to grow up well with great friends around him.
Walking back to the living area of the apartment, he let out a sigh seeing the remaining boxes. All that’s left is to arrange the living room and the kitchen. He looked outside the glass window to see the sky turning orange in color. He noticed the sun was getting ready to set and the children at the park were leaving. So he decided to take a walk to relax himself a bit and grab something to eat from the convenience store that was attached to the apartment complex entrance.
As Jimin was strolling the neighborhood park, he couldn’t help but smile seeing the little kids walking back home with their moms and friends holding hands. Kids always warmed his heart and he wished if he had a fun happy childhood as them. He was so lost in thoughts that he didn’t even hear the tiny bell sound or the bicycle coming his way.
“Mister move!” Small voice snapped at him and when he saw a little boy coming his way, Jimin quickly moved but the boy was a bit startled and fell with the small bicycle.
“Oh no! Kid, are you ok?” Jimin quickly went over to the kid and picked him up. For a second he got worried that the kid will start crying since he heard him grunt. But he just flashed his cute little teeth and dusted his little back.
“I’m ok. I’m a strong boy. But Mister, you should look where you walk. This is the bike track.” The little boy said making Jimin smile sweetly at him.
“I’m sorry kiddo. I’ll be more careful.” Jimin helped the boy dust his short and observed his hands and legs. The little boy stared at Jimin’s face with his big brown doe eyes. Jimin in his white shirt, with gentle eyes and a warm smile looked mesmerizing to the kid. He was reminded of the story his mother read last night before falling asleep.
“Oh no. Your knee got a small scratch. Does it hurt?” Jimin blew on it a little and looked up at the cute boy.
“No. I’m a strong boy. I’m learning taekwondo and I protect my momma.” The boy flexed his tiny arm showing his non existent bicep bump. Jimin couldn’t help but chuckle and ruffle the little boy’s hair thinking how cute he is. Jimin’s little laugh was like a sweet soft melody so the boy touched Jimin’s face as he was crouched down at the same level as the boy.
“Mister, Are you an angel?” He asked cutely with his doe eyes wide with curiosity and excitement. Jimin’s smile widened more.
“Do I look like an angel to you?” He asks staring at the boy and he gave two slow baby nods. But before Jimin could answer they heard a woman’s voice from a far. The boy snapped his head and gasped touching his little head seeing the woman waving at him.
“Oops. Mister Angel I should go back now. Thank you for helping me up.” The boy smiles and picks up his bicycle with Jimin’s help.
“Take care, Kid.” Jimin waves and the boy quickly paddles away leaving Jimin behind all smiley. What a cute little kid. My heart almost melted.Jimin shook his head and continued with his walk.
It was 8pm when Jimin finally decided to go back to his apartment. He stopped by the convenience store and looked at the different kinds of instant noodles. He looked around and noticed that there was no one but him and the girl at the cashier. Contemplating whether to eat here or take it up, Jimin picked few stuff and walked towards the counter.
He was relieved that the girl was not dozing off like last night but she really did look tired. As usual she just smiled without making any eye contact and checked the items out. Jimin always wondered if the girl is just too shy or just too tired. Jimin had been seeing her the past three days and it was a bit hard for him to figure her out. Normally figuring out girls is one of his talents, and he could easily do that within few minutes. But this girl is way too closed for him to think of anything. Jimin always used to get curious when he don’t understand things, but right now he is least bothered by it.
Collecting the bag from her after paying, Jimin thought of having dinner at the small table here in the store and go. He felt too lazy to clean back in the apartment so he fixed his dinner there and sat on the corner table by the glass window.
As he was eating he noticed how the girl was about to doze off again but she quickly straightened up when the bell of someone entering chimed. Jimin felt kind of bad for the girl. He could tell that she was hard working. He watched the girl as the old man entered the shop earlier went over to her directly. The old man looked a little grubby but still she smiled warm heartedly at the man and greeted him with respect.
“Young lady, I can give you this much can you give me some food that are close to expire and about to throw.” The old man fumbled with some coins on his hand and placed it on the counter. He looked around at the food section gulping and then back at the girl with a pleading smile. It was obvious that the man was hungry and didn’t have money. Jimin was about to get up and buy some food for him thinking that he will be kicked out, But he stopped himself when the girl returned the money and asked him to stay there.
Jimin watched the girl walk towards the food section with a basket and fill it up with some food items and some desserts. She returned to the cashier to bill them and to his surprise she paid them from her pocket.
“Here you go Sir, Give the piece of cake to your granddaughter. She will really like it.” She handed over the bag to the old man and he took it from her feeling very grateful.
“Thank you so much young lady, You are always so kind. I promise I’ll repay you someday.” The old man thanked her over and over again.
“No Sir, Please. It’s nothing. Just have a nice meal and be healthy.” She smiled lovingly and the man thanked her again before walking out. Jimin’s heart warmed up to her. The kindness and the politeness she showed really touched him.
He was going to stay back for few more minutes and probably grab something sweet for dessert, but his phone started ringing. He pulled out to see that it was his friend Jungkook.
“Yes Kook, what is it now?” Jimin answered as he took the bag to clean up. Jungkook had been calling Jimin non stop ever since he moved to Seoul. It was his birthday tomorrow and he was so excited for it because the whole best friend gang of seven will be meeting up tomorrow like a reunion after two years.
“Jimina.. I need a hand tomorrow. Can you come early and help me decorate the place?”
“I’m still not even done with mine.” Jimin replied in a negative tone just to annoy him.
“Oh come on. I helped you the first day to move the boxes at least. So help a brother out.” Jungkook whined and Jimin chuckled.
“Alright.. Alright.. I’ll be there.”
“Yes! See you tomorrow then.” Jungkook sounded happy and then hung up. Jimin quickly threw the stuff away and looked at the girl one last time before walking out to finish the unpacking back in his apartment.

The mall looks less crowded even though it was lunch time. You walked ahead looking around as you were eager to get home but it seemed impossible with this excited person in front of you. Huffing out a sigh, you turned to your right as Vinny, your best friend slipped into another shop when you both were on your way out of the mall. Pressing her lips together, she pretended to look around not wanting to look at you. It was obvious that she don’t want to see your frowning face as she kept dragging you along. You cleared your throat to get her attention and waited for her to look at you.
“What?” Vinny asks looking at you sheepishly as she picked out another black dress from the nearest collection.
“Are you sure you want that? I thought we are done.” You ask giving her the‘are you serious’look because just one hour back she bought a black dress to the party she will be attending.
“Well.. I am done. But.. Not you. We still need to get you something.” She says as her maroon tinted full lips spread flashing you her pretty smile.
“Vee... I said I’m not coming. You know I can’t.” You whined to your stubborn friend who is refusing to let you go. You call her Vee out of love and you have a habit of giving nick names to the closest people to you.
“Yes you can. If this is about Jae, I already gave you a solution and I’m sure he will understand.” Vinny took out another dress and held it up in front of you to see if it would look good on you.
“But Vee... I don’t even know anyone who will be there. What am I even gonna do? It’s been ages since I went to a party.” You frowned looking down at your friend who is little bit shorter than you.
“This is why you need to get your ass into one. It’s been ages. Even though it’s my expensive man’s birthday party, I don’t think I would even know half of the people who would come. That’s one of the reasons I need you to come with me. You know how Jungkook have so many friends unlike us.” She says and you just got more nervous knowing that more people are going to come. “And of course Jo and Tae will be there.. and so will be Joon. You itself said that Joon was nice.”
You did meet Namjoon during the last outing you all had few months back and you two did become friends. And Joanne, who is also known as Jo is your other closest friend who you met last year thanks to Jungkook. He introduced Taehyung and his girlfriend Joanne to you and Vinny. And the bond with Joanne developed more when you found out that she will be in Jae’s life.
“But..” You opened your mouth to protest again but Vinny snapped at you getting serious.
“Listen.. I’m not taking a No from you. Cut the excuses crap because you are coming with me.” She says pulling out another dress. As she raises it up towards you, She sighs seeing the look on your face.
“Look Y/n. Ever since we became friends, I have never seen you enjoying your life. And for the past five years you have been just working two jobs non stop and being responsible for everything around you. For once just think about yourself. It’s just one night. You are passing your mid twenties and you should be enjoying babes. So please.. do this for me. Just today.” Her tone changed as she gave you the puppy eyes. Your brain wanted to refuse but your heart couldn’t.
“Fine.. But if your annoying bunny boyfriend says something, I’m gonna smack his head like the last time.” You warned because Jungkook has the tendency to annoy you and you two always ends up bickering, mostly when it comes to Vinny.
“Hey.. Leave my expensive man alone at least on his birthday.” You just rolled your eyes at her. Vinny calls Jungkook expensive man not because he is well off. To her, he is just expensive in all ways inside and out. It’s a term she uses to express how great her boyfriend is and you get her. Jungkook is handsome, talented, funny, kind hearted and sometimes mischievous. He always tend to be competitive and that’s why you and him bicker most of the time. But you both are good friends and respect each other because you both love Vinny.
“Yeah Yeah whatever. Now hurry up. I literally spent good half of my off day here with you instead of resting. And you know I need to go in two hours. Jae will be back home soon.” You reminded Vinny as she picked out few more things.
“I know. I know. Come on. Go try these.” She shoved some dresses to you and pushed you towards the changing room.
“What? All these?” You ask looking at the pile with big eyes.
“Yes! All of that. I counted the dresses.. So you better show me all of them without hiding.” Vinny gave the knowing look and you just grunted dragging yourself to the fit-on room, knowing very well that you can’t win against your best friend at times like this.
People who don’t know you properly will always think that you are a loner and a workaholic because of your current lifestyle. You really don’t blame them because you don’t get along with people that much because you have a busy life and priorities that you give all your attention to. So parties kind of scares you unlike your teen days. But things have changed drastically now. But thankfully you are not a loner like people think. You may be struggling in life to keep going but you have amazing people like Vinny, Jungkook, Joanne and Jae in your life, and that’s more than enough. You didn’t need anyone or anything else.
At least that’s what you thought for now!
