Let Me Save You

โ€œ

Let her go

!โ€ Carlisle hisses, and the absolute rage in his voice startling me.

And then he starts to run.

Alice catches my eyes then, her golden orbs are wide and guilty.

Edward. You have to stop him! Heโ€™ll die!

Heโ€™ll die.

Heโ€™ll die.

Heโ€™ll die.

And then Iโ€™m running after him.

No one saw it coming, not really, not even Carlisle himself. We were all frozen with shock.

As soon as Iโ€™m close enough, I tackle him from behind.

His thoughts are surprised, panicked. He turns around, trying to see who had attacked him. He stares.

Wha โ€” Edward?

โ€œDonโ€™t.โ€ I whisper.

But Alice! โ€”

โ€œYou saved me. Let me save you.โ€

Carlisle, my father, my first companion, my mentor, my creator, stares at me with golden eyes that are ever so similar to my own. โ€œPlease.โ€ I say again, hoping that he would listen. But if he asked me not to save him, to let him go โ€” who was I to deny him? He was my father and I am his son.

Alice. He insists, looking towards his youngest daughter. His golden eyes were pained.

Our family โ€” plus the other covens โ€” and the Volturi stood like statues, watching the scene we caused play out.

Alice states back at us, and with the slightest tilt of her head, she nods.

NOW! she yells.

With lightning speed, she twists around, breaking and ripping the arms of the vampires who held her. They screamed in pain.

I whipped my head around, looking at my family, my eyes locking with Bellaโ€™s

I nod.

They all charge.

I look back at my father, glaring at him for a moment before letting him go and running towards Aro.

The vampire who had almost killed my father.

I saw it in his mind; if Carlisle would have continued forward, if I hadnโ€™t stopped him, he wouldโ€™ve leaped up, ripping Carlisleโ€™s head from his body.

That was enough for me to want to rip him apart slowly, piece by piece, taking pleasure in the sounds of his pain-filled screams.

With a roar making its way from my mouth, I charged forward.
