The Last Chance

~ Chapter 1 ~

Why me, why does this always happen to me? I swear when I walked into the living room this morning my mom was already standing and doing yoga. Why? I have no idea!

My name is Ava Chase and I am 13 years old. I have long brown hair and green eyes. I am 5ft tall and I am in 7th grade. I live in Terrell, Texas. I go to the school right down my street. It is called SunnyVale Middle school, and I love it so much. All of my best friends go there and I think that we are going to the same high school so I am very excited. My favorite color is a lavender purple and my favorite animal is a dog and I actually have two of them. Their names are Archie and Apricot. They are both husky-german shepherd mixes. They are both two years old but we have only had them for one year.

Ughhhhhh I just remembered today is the first day of summer, booooo. I hate summer. It is the worst time of the year because there is no school! But the cool thing about not being in school is that I can read all day and not have to worry about my friends asking me questions about our tests and whatever.

But the weirdest thing that I can do is this thing with my hands, that if I concentrate hard enough my hands can make ice balls and they are delicious to eat. They taste like snow. I do not know why this is happening to me because I’m not special, I’m an ordinary girl. They Are yummy though.

Speaking of best friends, I have two: Cassidie, and Serry. They are the best and I’m not going to lie thatI love them so much. I am very excited to go to my room and be there for a while, but right now I am sitting down and washing dishes, it stinks. But the cool thing is that I get paid to do this so each time I do a chore I get 2-ish dollars and that is for the big chores, the little ones I get 1 dollar which is ok. I am saving to go to a movie with my friends.

We don’t know what movie we want to see but we will decide. But now that I have to go upstairs and clean the bathroom, I am so disgusted. Mom always makes me do the disgusting chores. Well now I’m going to clean the bathroom but, for this chore I get 2 dollars so that is good and then I have to go and put all the groceries away when my mom gets home and for that I get 1 dollar but whatever.

The plate that I just had in my hand froze then cracked all over, ughhh what am I going to tell my mom, about how this plate just randomly cracked and froze. I guess I could tell her that the dishwasher is broken but how would that explain……...

Why me, why me, my mom just came in here to tell me that I can not go to camp and that I am going to have to go on a trip with three people and that is terrible how am I going to survive. Then again I think that I could be better than everybody else but that is the other me talking so pretend I never said anything.

My powers are becoming stronger by the minute, like right now I could make my room a winter wonderland and so that is what I am going to do. I love snow and the cold does not even make me well cold.

Right now I am also packing for my trip which starts tomorrow and guess what my mom finally told me who I am going with, My mom’s friend’s son Derek and my mom’s other best friend’s daughter Serry, and her sister Cassidie. I’m so excited to go.

I mean I know Serry and Cass but I barely know Derek.

Well….. I completed my bag and guess what I just learned that they all have powers like me Derek has water and Serry and Cassidie have fire. Oh and they all have hard times controlling their powers like me, I can not believe that there are other people like me.

My mom just came up and said that we have to get going and that I have to load my stuff into the car and I really do not want to but here I go.

So right now I am on my way to their house and I have no idea where we are. I feel like we are in the middle of nowhere. And guess what! We are in the middle of nowhere and it is so funny because I still have phone service so I do not know. But now I see a house approach in front of us, it is beautiful, it is big blue and beautiful and it has a lot of windows and it looks like they have 3 to 4 floors. But the thing I do not like is that they have barely any road and it is all bumpy which is why my writing looks all bad. Oooooh that is so much better and guess what my writing looks better to.

Well I am walking into the house and my first thought was OOH and AHH it is so pretty inside and then this very handsome boy walks down the stairs and looks me in the eye and then says hello!

He is so handsome, but I have no idea why I am falling for somebody, I am built hardcore and not falling for somebody I barely even know. So now we are back in the car and driving down the road to Serry and Cass’s house. When I get to their house it is the same beautiful and has a lot of floors and windows. Mom just told me that just because they have big houses does not mean they are rich and wealthy because we are wealthy and we have a small house.

When I was 2 years old my dad left and went to Egypt and from then on I have never seen him call him or facetimed him or even write to him. My Mom says that he left because he did not love her anymore but I do not know what to think. Then my mom was heartbroken and sad and did not even help me with my homework for a couple weeks. Then I had a sister whose name is Ariah but shortly after my dad left she got lost at a fair and we could not find her and now we have no idea where she is. So basically I just lost two many family members but anyway.

I’m very confused because when they came down the stairs they were laughing and laughing and laughing so much I thought they were going to die. Then they saw me in the doorway and stopped, turned around and dashed upstairs and when they came back down they had a present in their hands and they asked me to open it and I guessed what was in it.

It was a phoenix feather and I asked them why and then they brought down a cage and in it was a phoenix and she was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I decided to call her Adelyn. Adelyn the phoenix yep perfect, I also decided that I was going to take her with us and we have plenty of food for her and she can go and capture fresh food too…

We are finally now driving to wherever and guess what, we are riding in a big bus sort of thing and it is so big and get this we don’t even have to wear seatbelts in hear, there is a movie place in the back a restaurant in the front and amazing beds for some reason in the middle.

OMG the beds are for tonight because we are going to get there tomorrow at 5:00 ugh i hate being in the car at night i do not know why I just do.

But when we were sitting at dinner Derek asked me to follow him, so I said hold on one sec and I followed him to the back of the movie theatre and he started talking.

OMG he is so sweet!!!!!!!!, he said that he really likes me and that he thinks that I am amazing and everything. But guess what, I have the same feelings for him as he has for me. I’m so happy right now, I can not believe that we are going to go on a week long trip together. I think that maybe we can be friends if we really want to.

Right now I am sitting on my bed playing Minecraft on my phone and everybody else is playing it too and we are winning. I am also snacking on ice cream and it is my favorite kind of chocolate chip cookie dough. Well it is now time to go to bed so i guess i will see u in the morning good night.

Good morning everybody I am up and about and have no idea what to eat, so I think I am going to eat chocolate chip pancakes. So I just got dressed and today I am wearing a sleeve shirt because it is so hot here and I am wearing light purple shorts. I did my hair up in a messy bun and put my cat ears on.

Get this Cass and Serry both have cat ears too I’m so happy! All of ours are a purple blue ish color and have flowers. Finally I am done doing my hair and stuff so now I am going to go outside on the top of the bus to our deck. Later I am going to go swim up there too because we have a big pool. It is so cool!, right now though I am going up and I am going to go and hang out with my friends and Derek included.

We are sitting on the balcony and I see the perfect picture view and so I ask to stop and I take the most beautiful picture ever. It looked like the sun was watching the clouds and it was so pretty. It is so nice out here. The sun is shining and there are no clouds in the sky. It is perfect. Now it is hot and sunny and so I am going to go back inside, because it is hot as heck.

I can not believe it is already time for lunch. I am having a pizza party with all of my friends. We are having pepperoni pizza with black olives and pineapple for fruit on the side. I am drinking Coca Cola with a straw of course and some french fries. My mom is calling me and hold up while I answer it. OMG no I am so confused, my mom said that the whole reason we are doing this trip is to save one of my friends Morgan from a deadly monster that is going to hurt her if we do not save her in 1-3 days. Ughh well it is time to go to bed so I guess I will, but wait I just remembered something. We are here and I do not have to go to bed so I am going to go get into the pool with everybody else.

OMG that was so much fun we were in there for like an hour and laughing and having fun that we did not notice the water had gone cold.

I just woke up screaming in my mind, I jumped out of bed and ran to the other rooms and told them what I heard and saw. We are going to help her and get her back, we have no idea what to take on this trip because we know we are going to take my phoenix Adelyn and we also know that we are going to take food and water because we will get hungry and thirsty. I am going to start training. I threw my dagger at the trunk of a tree and I kept doing that for minutes and finally I flipped over and ran around and stabbed at the tree behind me.

We are all ready to go but I am very worried because I do not want to leave everything here but at least our Mom’s are going to stay and keep everything safe. So here we go and we are off and already I am tired of walking and we have been walking for 5 minutes and have already walked ½ mile. I have my phone with me and I am listening to Taylor Swift’s new album and I love it. It is so awesome, but I do not understand why we have to go and get to know her during the break of the morning. It is already 10:00 and I am sweaty and exhausted.

OMG we are here 2 hours later at exactly 12:00 we are here and it is the most beautiful place ever. There are crystals everywhere and they are sparkly and shiny. The most beautiful one is the purple and pink one and it is so shiny and I want to touch it but I can not because there was a warning at the entrance. And it said that whoever touched the jewels would be cursed very badly.

Well guess what we already found Morgan and she is in the back with a giant cage of jewels around her and she has no food, just some stale bread to eat. It is so sad to see one of my friends in the cage and seeing her very poor and skinny. We have no idea how to get into the cage and so what we are going to do is dig into the bottom and get her out and thankfully we have brought some food with us for her to eat and so we are giving that to her now.

OMG that was so close we barely got her out of there alive, when we were digging there were these little fish things that were hurting us and one of them tripped me and my ankle is now sprained and so I can barely walk. And then on the way back out there was a dragon and she was the most beautiful animal I had ever seen. We barely got out of there alive, but we do not know what to do because I can not walk. I have to walk basically on Cass and Serry’s shoulders. I think what we are going to do is call our Mom’s and they are going to drive and come to us.

We are finally in the bus and we are so happy I went straight back to the back and got my ankle sprained that I had from when I sprained my ankle the last time, I brought it just to be sure and just in case.

Well I am going to sleep because I am exhausted so good night……….....
