Chapter 1

Do you know those reversible octopus plushies? You do? Perfect! Because that is where our story starts. You see, I kind of have an obsession with these things, and I was at my favorite store looking for this cute yellow one I saw, and you know I found it, but me and this guy touch hands while going to grab it! It was like it came straight out of a teen rom com!

But I just glare at him, grab the plushie and run. In those three seconds where we looked at each other, I see this guy and he is quite simply gorgeous like the ‘makes my heart flutter’ kind. I get to the checkout lane and my heart sinks; I didn’t even say anything to him. I decided to walk back to the plushie aisle to apologize and to my surprise he is in the exact same spot!

“Oh, hello” he tells me in a calm deep voice. “I’m Levi,” this guy has an impeccable sense of manners I think as he holds his hand out to me. Say something you weirdo! “Hi, I’m Elizabeth” I tell him and shake his hand.

“I’m sorry for just running off with the plush, but may I ask why you wanted it?” that’s way too forward he probably thinks you’re a psychopath now. He laughs this golden voiced laugh, “I don’t think you’re a psychopath, Elizabeth” oh crap, did I say that out loud? He laughs again. “Have I been saying my thoughts out loud this whole time?” I ask him, worried that I have.

“Yes, you have,” crap! “But I actually think it’s kind of cute!” My heart pounds in my chest. “Do you really think I’m cute?” I ask him, immediately regretting it. “Yes” he tells me, “would you maybe want to get coffee with me?”

“I could go for a cup” I tell him. Why I love this store is soon shown, there is a Starbucks built into it. I order a Pumpkin Spice Latté and he orders a Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew. Good, so he has great taste in coffee.

We sit together and chat for what feels like 30 minutes but by the time we wrap up our conversation, there is only 15 minutes until the store closes. We laugh with each other. “Well, don’t you want to go purchase that plushie?” Levi asks me, I had totally forgotten that it was in my lap. I laugh, “are you sure you don’t want it?” I pry. “I’m sure let’s go, I’ll pay.”
