Felix walked down the street. He was taking a solemn walk to his favorite lake. He just wanted to relax and enjoy the stars. As he walked further and further from town the street lamps became fewer and soon there was not a single lamp post in sight. His eyes have long since adjusted to the lack of light. He noticed the forested trail that would lead to the lake. He got off the main road and started hiking.
As he hiked, he thought of the past. He just finished college. It was okay, kind of boring to be honest. He pursued his desire for meteorology. Got his master's, but for some reason he felt empty. Felix always summed that up to not having many friends. Well really the only friend is his best friend Ewan. This was most likely due to his obsession with some fields of science. He was a nerd through and through. He loved to debate and ramble and relay facts when needed, but that came at a cost. No one really wanted to deal with that. So he just accepted it and tried to move on, but it ate at him. He felt lonely and a bit sad.
His hiked ended with soft sounds of splashing waves. The beach was beautiful. The light from the city this far out was not as much and it showed. The stars cascaded the planet with their celestial light. He smiled and walked over to his tree. This tree was here when he first came here with his parents, and it was here when he broke up in highschool and it still stands today. In a way it was his friend. He sat down by the base of it and rest his head against the oaken bark.
The wind picked up for a second, only for it to die off. The smell of the nearby pines came to him. He felt whole here. He felt like he belonged here, with his tree, with his beach with. With-
A rolling blast sounded from above. The sky was being covered in a thick cloud of black. The stars looked as they had disappeared. The dark clouds erupted with a pale green, and even grey color here and there. Felix quickly got up. He pulled out his phone and saw that it was oddly draining fast. He could see it go from 35% to 20% in 15 seconds. He was scared. Then he flew backwards. He hit the ground with a thump. He felt numb and dazed. He was quick to notice that his tree was now a blackened stump with what looked like a tear in the air. He thought this was a dream. He was quick to pinch himself. The tear was still there. The tear then finally opened. It was a green whirlpool. Felix tried to run, but was being sucked into the portal. He grabbed onto a nearby tree.
"No! No! Please someone help me!" Felix cried out. No one came to help. His life was flashing before his eyes. His mother, his father, him and his best friend Ewan. He remembered the last thing he said to him, "You can be overlooked, but you will never be forgotten, and I promise you my friend. I will never forget you." The flashback ended. The portal grew larger and was sucking nearby debris into it. Felix was sad, he never got to say goodbye to Ewan. His grip was becoming loose. The branch he was holding on to finally snapped off, and the world went quiet for Felix. He looked at the whirlpool of green, staring it down. Felix felt hopeless, he just accepted what was going to happen. Felix entered the portal.

Thump! The ground gave way as she landed on the ground. She checked one more time. Dagger? Check. Cloak? Check. Food? Check. Nobody saw me leave? Check. Some gold? Check.
Yelisa patted herself on the back as she just got away with it again. She snuck out of the castle again. Yelisa was a red dragoness. She stood at a normal 7' for her age. She was 500 years old so nothing too old.

She was the princess of her country and with it came its blessings but also its curses. Sure, she got anything she wanted, and was respected greatly, but that was also terrible. She never got a surprise anymore. It was all blending together. It was all so mundane.
Tonight she was going to enjoy herself. She put on the hood of her cloak and walked to the town's square. She would have to stop by, and pick something up to eat.
The city at this time was bursting with all types of individuals. The common dragon passed by her. She turned her head slightly downward as not be noticed. There was not only dragons, but it looked like a traveling band of elves had arrived to town. They were setting up for a festival it looks like. She didn't even notice that she nearly ran over a drawf.
"Watch where you're going!" The drawf yelled at her. She jumped a bit.
"I'm sorry." Yelisa apologized. The drawf grumbled some not nice things under his breath and walked off. Yelisa just ignored them and walked to a stall for some food.
In front of her was a stall with an elf. She was selling pastries, breads and other types of desserts. Yelisa pulled out 4 gold coins.
"Can I get a loaf of highlander Bread?" Yelisa asked and pushed the 4 coins to the young elf.
"Of course dear." She took the coins and grabbed a large loaf of bread and passed it to Yelisa. "Have a fine night dear!"
"You as well." Yelisa said back, and walked off. She had she needed. She walked to the edge of town, to the lake in the forest. She saw the large road that led near there, and as she walked she thought. 'Why can't I be like any other dragoness?' She thought glumly. She hated being a royal. She sighed as she saw a forest trail that would led her directly to the lake. The lake made her life bearable. She went to her tree. The tree was there before she was born, and it will most likely be there when she dies. It was one of things she loved. She sat down and leaned back on it's base. She breathed in the refreshing cool air. Her inner fire was acting up and she always got too hot. She was so distracted that she did not see the green lightning that was building around the beach. Eventually her attention was ripped to it as a massive blast resounded and her head turned to the collecting arcs.
"Wild magic!" She shouted and ran and took cover behind a large stone. It would offer some protection. She was heard large creaks and pops until there was only the sound of waves. The magic storm ended. She slowly took a quick peak over the rock. The beach was a mess of branches, leaves and something else. She saw something lying on the ground under all the debris. She slowly and carefully walked over. With her dagger in her hand, she kneeled down and started to remove the the branches.
"What are you?" Yelisa whispered. She saw what looked like an elf. She checked the ears. 'Okay not an elf. Not a drawf. What are you?' She thought. She flipped him over. Felix groaned in pain. Yelisa jumped back and shakily had her dagger ready. Felix's eyes opened.
"Who turned off the lights? Hey! Is anyone there?!" Felix yelled. He couldn't see. He was starting to freak out. He was grabbing everything. Yelisa was slightly horrified. She had to help.
"Hey I'm here." She announced.
"Oh thank god! Help me please." Felix begged. Yelisa could hear the fear and uncertainty. She put away her dagger. She walked over to him. "Are you still there?" Felix asked.
"I'm here. Don't worry." Yelisa said as she nervously put her hand on his shoulder. He jumped a bit but calmed down. "I'm here. Just breath easy." She comforted. Felix was still tense but breathed calmly. She took out her loaf of bread and ripped off a chunk of it. She put the piece to the mouth of Felix. "Here's some food. It's bread. You should eat. It always helps me calm down." Yelisa said. Felix reached and felt around for the bread. He felt her scales.
His skin went cold. He was so scared. 'What the fuck?!' He thought. He shakily took the bread and munched on it. 'Is this thing going to kill me?'
"You should rest. I'll be here if you want me-"
"Please don't leave." He begged. She took her cloak and wrapped it around the little being. He was short compared to her, maybe around 2 feet shorter.
"Let's get some sleep. Maybe your sight will come back." She said as she increased the intensity of her inner flame and made the look-alike elf rest on her chest. He rest his back on her. She didn't have breasts. Is she really a girl? Or is it just a guy with a high voice? Well he will ask later. The two closed their eyes and slept.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The birds near the lake made the morning theirs as they rang their calls out. Yelisa snorted awake. The two were in the shade of the tree she and him had taken shelter under. She peered down at the fascinating creature. He slept softly and was tightly wrapped up with Yelisa's cloak. The little being to her look far more interesting now that she could properly see it. It had long blackish hair, rounded ears, and its skin was a ghastly white. It fascinated her to no end.
She got up quickly and smoothly removed her cloak from herself and reattached it around the small creature. She softly put it down. She removed her dagger and placed it next to it, with her bread. She wanted to stay and converse with it, but she needed to head back to the castle before her father's rage went too far. She quickly went close to its neck and took a large sniff, remembering its scent. It smelled masculine. She pushed that aside and started to dash back to her castle.
After 5 minutes, Felix awoke. He fluttered his eyes open and noticed right off the bat he could see once more. He was terrified that he permanently blind from whatever that green lightning was. He saw he was also next to a large lake, and he was covered by a large cloak. Felix noticed that there is also a dagger, well actually a short-sword by the looks of it. Right next to the short-sword was a large loaf bread on a large cloth meant for covering it for safe storage. He covered the bread and tied the top part, concealing the loaf. He saw the short-sword had a part that could attach to a belt. He picked it up and wrapped it around a section of his belt. He pulled out the sword albeit very clumsily. He thought to put it away before he took off one of his fingers. He sheathed the sword and checked his clothing. All but a couple of soot marks possibly from that lightning thing. He got up and noticed that the cloak reached to his ankles. He picked himself up and grabbed the loaf. He looked around. What looked like large buildings and a castle was to the right of him, off at a distance.
He realized that where ever that blasted portal took him, it surely wasn't on earth. He pinched himself. It's not a dream. He just breathed in, and smile. He was sad, sure. He won't see his friend Ewan, but this is a dream come true. He was a different world. A fresh start.
He began his trek to the city in the distance. He walked to the tree line and entered this new forest before him. The trees here were of a kind he had seen before. They some striking similarity to those on earth, but not quite the same. His attention was immediately drawn to a rustling in the undergrowth in front of him. He quickly and with the talent of a novice drew his sword. The rustling ended and he didn't take one step. He shakily raised the sword, preparing for a downward strike, he hoped. He squealed as a rabbit dashed out of the bush and ran past him. He sighed and put his sword into his sheath. Now that little incident was over, he was now really on edge, with his hand on his sword all the time now. He saw light up ahead, and started to jog to it. He broke the tree line.
In front of him was a large wall, with towers stationed on the walls every once in a while. The wall spanned for a long distance. He couldn't quite see where it ended. He did notice the large gate, sentries and being that were not human going into the city by the gate. He hoped their was no fee to enter the city. He got in line. In front were large humanoid dragons with massive wings on their backs. They had what looked tk be noble clothing. The smallest, and probably the youngest looked back at him. They couldn't quite see his face or ears. The viewer of Felix looked Felix up and down.
"What brings you to the capital? Peasant." The voice of this dragon was high, and the demand for respect was evident. He quickly bowed and answered.
"Just to find a job, oh high one." Felix replied. He has never once in his life ever felt so sick to steep so low like that. The supposed dragoness scoffed.
"We should just send your kind away, elf." The dragoness turned to face the front. He heard what sounded like a slap and the dragoness's voice proclaiming an ow. "What!? I'm not wrong-"
"Watch your tone with me little one!" A deep voice growled. "To speak so outwardly, and braizenly brings shame on our family. Now apologize." The deeper dragon growled.
"But-" She was quickly silenced by a growl. She sighed and turned back to
Felix. "I am deeply sorry for my words, and I should have held my tongue." The dragoness forced out. The older dragom hummed in approval. They were called to the gate next. Felix was the last one of the day and would have to wait just a bit longer.
After what felt like an eternity, he was called up. He approached to towering gate and walked in. 3 guards with long halberds were nearby and an official was standing with a ledger book.
"Name, and reason of entering the capital." The official ordered. Felix had no way out. He had to obey. He didn't want to find out what happens if you disobey.
"Felix. I have come looking for a job." Felix answered. The official wrote something down in his book. He took a glance at Felix.
"Take off your hood." The dragon ordered. Felix's blood turned cold. He just hoped they wouldn't freak out about his ears. He took off his hood. "What happened to your ears!? My god!" The dragon looked disgusted. Felix thought on the spot.
"I was bullied when I was younger. The other elfs took a dagger and did that." Felix lied. The dragon nodded.
"I'm sorry to hear, but please put on your hood." The dragon asked. Felix nodded and put on his hood. "Alright everything looks to be in order. You may enter, and enjoy our fair city."
Felix walked into the city. All different types of people. This was straight of a fantasy dream of his. He was so excited.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You disobey me again and again! I have had it up to here with it!" Yelisa flinched as she was kneeling down before her father and bowing. "Do you not realize what could've happened! You could've been raped, murdered, held for ransom!" Her father yelled. The guards that were supposed to be in the room had left a while ago.

Her father's usual blue face was turning purple with rage. He was furious with his daughter who was all but having difficulty holding in her laughter.
"Calm down dear. Please. Constant yelling won't solve anything. She is still young." Yelisa's mother calmly and softly said to her husband.

"You're right." Yelisa's father relented. "Fine. Yelisa you are dismissed." Her father announced. Yelisa got up and bowed. She turned to the doors and left. With the door closed and in front of all of the guards she laughed so hard. The guards joined in.
"Oh my god! Did you see how angry he was! Hahaha!" Yelisa laughed. The guards couldn't stop laughing. She waved the guys off. She was heading to her room for common clothing.
Once fully clothed, she quickly and waving to the guards as she dashed out. They promised eariler to not tell. She giggled as she ran to the town square. She passed mqny guards who all turned a blind eye. One yelled for her. She turned to him. He threw a dagger in its sheath. She grabbed it, and nodded in thanks. She continued her way to the town square.
She came upon the grand market and not a soul noticed she was the princess. Of course she did not wear her ceremonial garb, or her royal gauntlet. She took in a deep breath, smelling the fine food, and the smell of purfume. Her nose flicked. She picked it up. His scent. He was near.
She ran and dived between people following the masculine scent. She followed it down an alley way to a different street. A few boxs and carts blocked her path. She dashed and ran on the side wall for a second before jumping over the boxes. She landed hard on the ground. She looked back at the boxes. "Not bad." She chuckled. His scent was so close. She dashed his way. She tripped as she saw what looked like an elf standing in her way. She fell on top of them. It was him. The scent gave it away.
"Oh my goodness! I am do sorry, I didn't mean to trip you!" He apologized. Yelisa could see it clear as day that this was the being from the other night. She grinned.
"It's alright." Yelisa responded. She heard the sounds of heavy chainmail coming down a street. She looked to the smaller male. "Follow me. I want to show you something." She said. She grabbed his arm.
"I don't know about- Woah!" Yelisa basically dragged Felix down another alleyway, away from the guards. "Where are we going?!" Felix demanded.
"I don't have a clue!" Yelisa chuckled.
