Lacuna: Prologue

Ecstatic little Galinarael runs out of the house, skittishly jumping down the stairs and ignoring her mother's pleas to stop running or she'll get hurt. It was winter, her favorite season of the year when everything is cold and white; the cold breeze that turned her cheeks Scarlett with just one caress and the chills that would run through her body, but most of all, the pretty snowflakes that never failed to make her happy whenever they touched her face with a delicate, cold kiss.

Perhaps her name is connected to her love for the freeze or maybe it's one of her inherited special traits from her granny; it always looked good on her. Her feet sank in the deep snow as she raced to her Favorite oak tree near the lake where her daddy put a swing on one of the tree branches for her and her sister. She clumsily sat on the cold seat, held onto the ropes and began swinging. Her heart was warm with joy, toes curling from the cold and melodious giggles reverberated around the clearing. Euphoria was in the air.

She was content and carefree, he loved seeing his little mate like that. It never ceased to spark something in him- like a warm blanket wrapping around his stone-cold heart. He knew she was his beloved, but she was far too young for him to take away already, so he made a silent promise to her that he'll come back soon.

Before he could turn around to leave, a warm small hand wrapped around his fingers tenderly, "hello sir, would you like a turn on the swing? If you're worried it'll break, daddy made sure it's strong." His lips lifted into a small smile, and he turned back around and was already mesmerized by the beautiful young girl in front of him, her golden eyes are what got to him most, blue specks swimming in a golden storm.

He knelt before her and cupped her cold cheek in his hefty hand, "Galinarael, I'll see you soon. Remember, ego semper ibi utcumque es."
She frowned at the unknown words, but it was immediately replaced by a toothy grin. She held up her pinky and looked up at him expectantly, "soon?" He hooked his with hers and returned the smile.
"Soon Little Galinarael"
