Bruno The Guardian
“Ah, it’s that time again” Bruno dreaded “human life is so fragile.”
Every other day Erica would shut herself out from the world. Sometimes her episode would last a mere intense fifteen minutes, other times it would be for painstakingly hours. Bruno slumped down in front of Erica’s door, nervous yet alert, telling himself that as long as he stands guard there will be no harm coming her way.
The sweet peaches scent from her perfume still lingers in the air. There’s quite a comfort in smelling the remnants of her presence. Bruno scoffed a little at his sensitive nose – “What a blessing, what a curse!” he thought to himself. Being able to tell when Erica is there just as well as when she isn’t from the air alone has many times stripped him from the element of surprise. He remembers when Erica would hide behind the bedroom door to surprise him with a gift, yet his nose had betrayed her by alerting him of her location, and even worse – the gift itself. Oh, what a bummer! Despite that, he couldn’t help but hop up in surprise as she appeared in front of him with the item in her petite hands. The proud smile on her face was worth every ounce of fake excitement he had to embody. Bruno would do anything for this girl.
As happy memories fill his body with warmth, a sudden gush of death jolts him back to reality. The overly anxious Bruno leans against the warm wooden panel, his body trembling at the thought of what could be happening to Erica behind that door. He starts tugging frantically at the doorknob, hoping to get a response from Erica – anything at all amidst the stench of rotten carcasses!
But all he heard was a loud agonizing groan.
Oh no. She’s in trouble!
Bruno can no longer contain himself. He knows he isn’t supposed to make a sound without good cause, but the stressful whimpers have now spiraled into one big yelp.
From behind the door, he could hear Erica call out his name followed by words inaudible to a frightened Bruno. It must have been her desperate prayers for help, it must have been destiny that Bruno was present at that moment the hinge latches open. As light starts seeping through the gap of the opening door, Bruno could see Erica slowly coming into view. He rushes towards her and without any hesitance, places both of his paws on her bare thighs.
“Really, Bruno? I’m just trying to poop in peace” Erica sighed.
Bruno…
Peace…
Ah yes, Bruno had fulfilled his duty and brought peace upon his master.
Bruno is a good dog.
