Chapter 1
I groan stretching my arms out as I grab my phone realising my best friend Callie messaged me wishing me a happy birthday telling me she'll be over in 5 minutes and has a surprise for me.
I smile at her message sending a quick reply before getting ready and brushing my teeth making sure I don't look like a zombie for my birthday.
As I'm brushing my hair I hear the door bell, knowing it's Callie I rush down to hug her I open the door and greet her while she looks at me with a strange gleam in her eyes making me squint my eyes at her in suspicion.
"What have you done?" I ask her knowing her too well as she shrugs smirking now. "Come and see!" She shrieks all too excitedly for my liking.
"Should I be worried?" I ask showing my suspicion which she just grins at and shakes her head telling me to be quiet as she starts dragging me to her car then slamming the door running to the driver seat shouting "Buckle up bitch!"
I roll my eyes trying to hide my smile as do as she says putting the radio on and sing loudly to annoy her.
"God my gran could sing better than you Liv." She retorts making me playfully swat her arm.
30 minutes later and I'm trying not to fall asleep "Callie what's taking so long?" I groan out hating that I don't even know where she's taking me.
Rolling her eyes she sings out "Patience is a virtue darling." I change the radio getting bored of the commercials and give her a look "You've been driving for ages and I still have no clue where your taking me."
"Well you can look now we're here!" She exclaims happily adding "I rented the entire shelter so you get the first pick it's just opened here and I know how much you've been dying for a dog Liv!"
I look at her with tears of happiness and shrieking loudly "Oh my god!" I hug her then remember what she said "Hold up you rented the shelter just so I could be the first to pick?" I ask her in disbelief.
"It's your birthday gift Liv you're 20 you live alone I know you get lonely now you won't you'll have a companion for life." She explains shrugging like it's no big deal but she knows deep down how much this means to me.
"Callie thank you so much I honestly couldn't have asked for a better best friend." I tell her genuinely making her smile "Don't you know it, now let's head inside!"
