Loss of Innocence ...
"Another enjoyable book from John. His story telling is very visual, meaning that his descriptions allows your imagination to visualise what is occurring. His characters are well thought out and described. The story is great with several twists and turns along the way. His writing style is slow with the build up and draws out scenes. This book could do with some editing to make it even better as in several places some paragraphs seem to be repeated with no gain in the story or similar in content. Other than that small criticism, it was a good read and very entertaining."

"I was blown away by this fantastic story! Hated having to stop reading when other stuff called for my attention. I cried at times at the sheer sweetness of it, and at other times I was on the edge of my chair with excitement, or worry over that damn bear!!! The writing was superb with very few typos .I did find myself mentally correcting one or two sentences that were ended with a preposition, but that is just an old-fashioned quirk of my own. I definitely intend reading more of this skilled and talented author's wonderful work."

"Thank you for recommending this book. I couldn't put it down stayed up to around 4 reading it. Lol The life and death situation about broke my heart when I thought he died. I believe some people can fall in love that quick . My husband and I were like that and we have been together over forty-two years. Another well written book. If you never have anything to do maybe you could give us a break down on how they are doing 5 or 10 years down the road."

A Journey You Don't Want to Miss
""Loss of Innocence" is a great journey for its characters. The author really takes the time for you to get to know them and care about them. From the opening discussing the bear, this book really brings adventure and romance together with an engaging plot and deep characters. The story's structure is addicting to read, and the imagery is very prominent with a very smooth writing style. It makes the story easy to understand and impossible to put down. The story is very unique and it has an interesting antagonist to go along with its amazing characters. You don't want to miss out!"
Too Easy!
"The fifth John Sutherland novel that I read was set in modern day. I was excited. John is a very good story teller, and I was looking forward to something totally different from his period pieces. Though the story is readable and very easy to follow, there were no unpredictable moments. I'm not sure why that was. A modern day story from this caliber of writer should have blown me away, but it didn't. The writing is so formal; it read more like a period piece out of place. There was a bit of excitement with the bear. It broke the story up enough to get a different perspective, but when the bear was out of the picture, the story was more of the same. The love that is shared between the two main characters is so sweet; it comes across as desperation in some parts. It's almost like they would die if they weren't in each others presence for more than five minutes. Yes, there was a reason they were so attached to each other, and there was just a bit of conflict in the beginning between the two, but after that initial conflict, there was nothing left but sugar. Love isn't always sugar, and I think that is where I had a problem with this story. With the story being focused on both struggle and attraction, there had to be some conflict that came with the struggle, and there was none. So, Loss of Innocence is an okay tale, that is lacking a few elements (unusual for John). I personally prefer his historical romance after reading this."

"I loved the different perspectives of the story, how it was slowly introduced, how the characters were presented separately and then brought together. The characterization is done in a great way and all the characters are properly portrayed and depicted. The plot of the story is very intense and dynamic. It made me feel anxious and worried for the characters. It was a very dynamic and adventurous story. Your style of writing is great, very smooth and easy to read. It is sort of visually oriented, so that I, as a reader, was able to picture every situation, every character, and every place and to go through the adventures with the heroes. Due to this, the story had a great flow. The technical level of the story is also commendable. Overall, I have truly enjoyed reading this."
