Immaculate
let us cleanse ourselves of selfishness and greed
let us rid ourselves of attachment and of need
summon strength
to stay awake,
to deny the urge to weep;
no nightmare permitted in our sleep
no dirt or filth may stick,
acknowledged and observed;
a dialectic cliff known as the learning curve
within, without
we cleanse ourselves
of all that we look upon with disgust;
perfection is all we can
ever hope to trust
our nature is villainous
our ambitions, treason
suffering blooms in every season
rise impassioned,
assuming reason,
starved for blood
and accountability;
let us cleanse ourselves of our humanity
until the shadows flee away
and come the day when at last we see
order out of chaos
and the death of history
