Prologue
“I DON’T EVER WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN, DO YOU UNDERSTAND?” the alpha had yelled at the pack, well not just the pack it was more a single she-wolf that he was yelling at.
“I WANT YOU TO BECOME A GHOST… A PHANTOM SOMETHING THAT NEVER EXISTED” he yelled again.
The whole pack started to whimper as the power radiated off him.
The shaky she-wolf replied, “yes father.” Her still shaky head turned to the forest that none had explored yet and shifted forward, the blood still on her paws as she walked.
Every wolf nodded as she walked, her head down and legs still shaky from that afternoon when she watched her mother die in front of her and had no power to stop the wolf.
“NEVER COME BACK YOU HEAR ME PHANTOM, NEVER!” the alpha spit out with venom while rolling his eyes and screaming, now his fur was on fire. That being his power when he had been born, every time he got mad or even a tiny bit upset he burst into flames.
Her father had forced the name into her head to where she was starting to forget her real name fern meaning gentle and kind, but tough not breaking. That’s what her real name was her birth name the name she would no longer carry with her.
Phantom turned away from her father, her head getting dizzy as she walked.
It had not been long until Phantom had fallen over and passed out due to blood loss and hitting her head.
She fell into a deep sleep as she lay there unconscious, having the same nightmare of her mom over and over again on a loop.
That was phantom’s first night away from her pack… her home, the place she designed to mate and have pups but her father’s rage had put that far behind her now all she needed was to survive.
Phantom woke up in a cave surrounded by water and plants hanging down, almost touching her on her muzzle.
“What happened to you child” an old-sounding voice came from the front of the cave she seemed to be stuck in.
Fern didn’t answer at first, then felt it rude not to. “I was cast out” she mumbled from where she was laying.
“Well it seems that you have been through a lot explicitly with all the cuts and bumps you had.” the old wolf said not very pleased that the young wolf was cast out but wouldn’t tell her why or by who.
“Where am I?” the young wolf asked.
“You are in my healing den” the she-wolf chuckled slightly to herself heading over to where Fern was laying in a nest of moss. The she-wolf poked her head from the side of where Fern was laying.
“Ah, you scared me,” Fern said, slightly taken aback when she was met with piercing blue eyes and tan fur on her face.
“So what's your name pup,” the tan wolf asked gently.
“My name…” Fern said with a whisper, she was thinking of what to tell her. If the old wolf was on her father's side with the fight then she would report back to him and he would kill her. So she went with…
“My name is Phantom,” Fern said, trying to sound proud but ending up sounding like she hated it together.
That day phantom took on her name and made a friend.
