"After every story I read from this author I feel "this is the best ever!" Well, this one is no exception.. it is full of suspense until the very end. I loved every word of it! An extremely complicated plot but well worth the read. This story contains everything, murder, mayhem, mystery, grief, and of course love and romance, plus the usual splashes of humour as the characters speak. I was right there in the action all the time! Absolutely fantastic!"

"The fourth John K. Sutherland novel that I have read, made me just say, hmm. I said this throughout the book. Why was the question that ran through my head several times. But I later found out why. Did I always like the why? No. I thought that this book could have gone in a different direction with the same ending. Don't get me wrong, it is an entertaining read, but there are some things that I would have done differently. Multiple characters will keep you on your toes. Three different stories eventually come into one, and it is magical. That I definitely liked. The grammar and punctuation in this one was great as usual, very few mistakes. I will say that though this is an earlier novel (I am reading another J. K. Sutherland as we speak), the same holds true as with the other three I have read. Main characters tend to talk way too much when they should be holding a conversation with the person, we as readers know, are in the room with them. I still haven’t figured that out. But I will not hold anyone back from reading this one. Not as good as the other three I read, but still worth reading. John is amazing."
Intriguing and challenging
"This sounds intriguing and very challenging, John, with lots of characters and interwoven plot lines. Consider... "Show don't tell." You've probably hear this before and wondered what's the difference? Well, the difference is as a writer you're telling your reader what's happening rather than having them experience it (showing). Write so the reader is actually feels involved in the action. Use the present not the past tense. Try re-writing the opening scene inserting dialogue and action rather than summary. It really will make your work come alive and be more entertaining for the reader."
