"Do we really have to go, Si?"

I ask for the hundredth time as I put on my black shirt with black jeans. She rolls her eyes as she puts on her makeup.

"Yes."

She answered for the hundredth time. I groan.

"Come on, E! Everyone will be there to keep you out of your misery. Now come here and let me do your hair and makeup."

I make a face when she mentioned makeup and she narrows her eyes at me as a warning. I lower my head and seat myself in front of her and she seems pleasant. I'll get you back for this, Sisa.

I force a smile on my face as I grab Sisa's hand. We nod at people as we walk past them. I hate formal parties. Even though I am not dressed for one. My hair is in a ponytail, much to Sisa's dismay, and I have smokey eyes which make my emerald eyes stand out more.

A genuine smile makes its way to my face when I finally see our gang.

"Hey, guys."

I sigh as I snatch the cigarette from Zoya's mouth and take a long drag. Sisa rolls her eyes as she kisses her boyfriend, Cason, who entered our gang through her. I hate the man with all my guts but need to tolerate him for her sake.

I sigh when my ex walks toward us.

"Hey, baby."

Mike steps in front of me protectively.

"Fuck off, Garry."

Mike is our leader while I am the second hand. We have a street gang, a big one at that. We are almost to the point where people will start calling us a Mafia. Though, we are already there where any Mafia would be.

We have thousands of people working under us. Mike and I even handle a company. We, best friends, mainly having high positions in the company, are 8 in total. Well, 9 if we include Cason.

I- Emerald, named after my eyes, funny-, Sisa, Zoya, Mike, Daniel, Ferron, Ariana, and Blake. We have been together since college.

"Mike, calm down man. I am just here to say hi."

I roll my eyes and push Mike aside as I cross my arms against my chest and raise an eyebrow at Garry.

"Hi. Get the fuck out of my sight now."

He smirks at Mike, winks at me, and leaves. I turn to Mike.

"Stop getting worked up on everything, M."

He shrugs as he takes the cig from my fingers and puts it in his mouth. I roll my eyes as I ask one more from Zoya who gives it without fighting, weird. She always fights us whenever we ask for one. It is getting costly.

I realize she didn't fight me because she is distracted. I follow her line of vision and frown.

"Why are you oggling my best friend, Zee?"

She blushes as she looks away while everyone surrounds me with wide eyes. Everyone except Cason and Sisa as they were busy eating each other's mouths.

"Best friend?"

I shrug with a small smile, noticing the jealousy in Ariana's voice.

"No, seriously, since when did you start having best friends outside the gang?"

Daniel asks with an eyebrow raised, his voice too is filled with jealousy. God, these people get jealous and protective a lot.

"Guys, chill! He is just my mother's best friend's son! I met him a few months ago and we kind of clicked in."

"Uh-huh. Yeah, not buying it."

I roll my eyes at Ferron. She has her arms crossed against her chest as she watches me like a hawk.

"Em!!"

I look over Mike's shoulder and wave at Elias. I push through their wall and hug him to spike up others' anger. Hehe.

"Hey."

I pull back and pull him towards my gang.

"Remember I told you about 'The Bloodsuckers'?"

He nods his head absently as he looks at me with hearty eyes. I nudge him in his ribs and that seems to snap him out of his daze as he looks at the others.

"Hi."

He says awkwardly and I had to clear my throat to stop them from glaring him down.

"Guys, this is Elias, my boyf- best friend, Elias, this is my gang."

I introduce everyone to him. I almost told them he was my boyfriend, I did want to, but I just love the looks of jealousy on their faces, you know?

All of them stiffly greet him making me laugh out loud.

"Alright alright. You were right for not buying my shit, Ferron. Elias is my boyfriend."

All of them sigh in relief before they register what I just said. They look at Elias with an unsaid promise that they will interrogate him later.

"Okay, enough of you glaring my man down. Elias, how about a dance?"

He eagerly nods his head as he pulls me onto the dance floor and sighs in relief.

"Why did it seem like they would have eaten me alive?"

I laugh as I wrap my arms around his shoulders and he wraps his around my waist.

"And why did you introduce me as your best friend, mate?"

"I like that nickname... I kinda said you were my best friend to tease them. They get jealous and protective that I might divide my attention for them."

His lips form an 'o' as he bends down and pecks my lips.

"Soo, what did you tell them before? How did you meet me?"

I smirk.

"I may have said that you are my mother's bestie's son."

He pouts playfully.

"That is true, Mr. Zoane."

My boyfriend, Elias Zoane, is a werewolf and I am his mate. He is indeed my mother's bestie's son and we did meet last month. I never met my mother's bestie personally before. She herself saw her after 15 years. I am 24 and El is 26, werewolves usually meet their mates when they turn 18, but I never actually met his mother, so far him.

All in all, I am happy and contended to be in his arms at the moment.

"How about, we ditch the party and go back home?"

I whine when he shakes his head.

I haven't seen you in for 2 days!!"

"I still have to meet a few businessmen and settle a few deals here. I'll make it up to you, I promise."

I sigh. Elias had a business trip and he just returned this afternoon. I couldn't pick him up from the airport cause I was with Sisa.

Elias is the Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack, and I am the Luna. The ceremony was held last week. He is also the CEO of the biggest company in NY.

"Fine, go and complete your duties as the CEO and as an Alpha."

I peck his cheek before stepping back and making my way back to the gang. Zoya hands me a glass of scotch and I thank her before consuming it in one go.

"I am sorry I was oggling your boyfriend before. I didn't know-"

"Zee, calm down. Do I look angry to you?"

She nods making me chuckle as I wrap an arm around her shoulder.

"I am angry at him, not you."

Mike cracks his knuckles.

"What did he do? I haven't had any flesh to kill for a while."

I roll my eyes at him.

"He did nothing. It is just that he sti-"

"The fuck?"

I look over at Ferron who is looking at her phone with wide eyes and then she turns to look at me with disbelief.

"YOUR BOYFRIEND IS ELIAS ZOANE?! THE RICHEST MAN IN NEW YORK?!"
