Chapter 1
"Lucy! Don't forget to lock up" Margaret, the pointy faced librarian almost screamed as she headed out the double doors to her stupid little blue smart car. Whoever had said that librarians were nice was fooling themselves.
Lucy just sighed, pushing her stringy red hair out of her face. This was the third time this week that she had to lock up after that woman. What was she even doing tonight? She was fairly certain all she had ever done was impersonate a cats asshole. Still it was her job, even if she hated it.
Stumbling over a copy of "The Giving Tree" that some prick had left on the floor in the children's section, she headed towards the door. The keys were in the pocket of her hoodie but something blue on the floor distracted her before she could grab them. She curiously leaned down to pick it up only to feel a slight stinging sensation on her finger. Frowning, she brought it up to see. A paper cut? Who had left paper on the floor? She wasn't a janitor!
Lucy sighed in frustration as she tried to pick it up again only for it to dart towards the doors. She really didn't have time to go after possessed paper so she headed that way too so she could lock up. That was when she began to hear a crinkling sound...and before she knew it she was being faced with an origami man.
Honestly who would know what to do in this situation? Lucy thought before slowly backing up into the bookshelf that held all of the adult literature. Before the thing could even do anything to her she toppled the whole damn thing and made a break for the door. No giant paper man was going to get her tonight.
It chased her, it's crinkling steps getting closer and closer as she ran down the cobblestone path. Curse the old part of the city. She didn't know how long she had been running when she crashed into someone, someone dressed in all black who's mask? Had smacked her in the face. The last thing she saw before her head hit the ground was something with a beak staring down at her.
All and all, not a bad night.
