Chapter 1: The First Day

"Here, Kesoi. If you need any help you know how to get my attention."

I was in shock as Cyra handed me the baby girl. I actually lost her, my little sister. Now all I have left of her is her baby girl. My dear Kora, I swear I will protect her. Kora had named her Ahsino. She had black hair just like me and one green eye like her mother and one blue eye like her father. I had always called her Lily because of the ice covered lilies that always sprouted around her when she laughed. I held her tightly as I soared down the little baby in my arms as I walked swiftly into the forest. I walked through the night until I saw my house, it was more like a cabin with two floors. It had a garden of blue and purple flowers surrounding it. I used one hand to open the door and when I got inside I went upstairs to the room where she used to stay. I put her in the crib and tucked her in. I unfurled my huge shiny black wings and I started to walk away when I heard a small whimper that turned into a wail. I turned around to see my little Lily with her shining eyes full of tears. I quickly pulled the chair over from the desk and started singing the lullaby me and Kora had created for her.

“Over the weary earth rises the moon to bring her rest~ The moon delivers her to peace and rest~ Oh sweet Lily rest as the night brings you back to your land of dreams~”

As soon as I got to the third verse l saw that she was asleep. I stopped singing and brushed her hair behind her ear. Then I left the room and shut the door. I went to my room and fell down on my bed and started sobbing. I had lost my younger sister. The only one in my family who actually understood me and she was gone. I wrapped my wings around myself and stared at the ceiling. I needed to stay strong for Lily. I drifted off into a dreamless sleep.

bushbaby: I love the slightly different spin on the were-world and I love love love reading Jaspers story splashed in-between. I honestly did not love Dev, he had no character growth and no arc I just didnt like who he is as a person and that made it hard to keep going about half way through. Without Jaspers ...

Loved, Loudly

Merrell Bunting: Well written, kind of quiet story, I enjoyed it. I am still a bit perplexed over whether this was a second chance mating story with choosing or completely a chosen mate story. If it is a chosen mate tale it leaves one a bit worried about a fated mate showing up. Either way it was a nice read.
