Prologue
I never believed in love.
Heartbreak I understood well, but never the depth of love. True love. My mistakes. My past. They had all prohibited me from ever wanting to feel something so pure and deep.
I wanted to escape. I had to escape.
All I needed was a safe haven. A place where I felt I could belong. To wash away the betrayal, hopelessness and lost from my young life.
But somehow, he changed that.
He came into my life unexpectedly and his timing was perfect. Too perfect. He was damaged. Conflicted. We both were. By lives that we never wanted.
Trapped in a world that completely contrasts one another. His, a life in front of the spotlight. Mine, a life behind the scenes.
Some say he was the silver lining to even my darkest of clouds. The man who challenged both me and my heart undeniably.
But the bonds of his love transformed me in ways I never knew to be possible. And my life after him was never the same.
Or, so I thought.
