Prologue - Runaway
Madeira's POV
I had to act fast. It was the middle of the night and this was the perfect time to escape from our own personal hell.
I finally have enough money for my brothers and I to leave today but we have to move quickly before they find out.
I hurriedly walked to my brothers room, with my already packed bag of clothes and supplies we would need, and frantically shook them awake.
“Aatto, Lev, wake up. ” I whispered so as not to be heard.
They finally woke up and cleared the sleepy fog from their eyes.
“It's time. Get your bags and let's go. ”
I didn't have to explain further since we had been planning this for a long time. They nodded in response and walked to their closet to get their already packed bags.
They hung them and put their shoes and jackets on before walking over to me.
I opened the door quietly, took their hands and we jogged silently down the stairs that thankfully didn't creak and out the door.
As soon as we got outside we bolted down the street to where the taxi was waiting for us, four blocks down.
We finally got to the taxi and I told him to take us to the train station fast.
He sped off like a demon out of hell in the direction of the train station.
I couldn't relax yet though because they could wake up any second, if not already, and start coming after us.
I had no fear of them involving the cops because I still had the bruises they gave me that could send them to jail and also because of what they're involved in.
We made it to the train station and I quickly paid the taxi guy before getting out and rushing in with my brothers' hands still in mine.
We got to the ticket booth and I paid for three tickets to Budapest from Prague and another one from Budapest to Romania along with the bribe to the ticket seller because there was no way he would let my 14 year old self on the train with my 13 year old brothers without guardians.
We got on it train and I waited anxiously for it to move. We had five minutes before it left the station but it felt like forever.
The doors finally closed and I couldn't be happier. We started moving and that's when I saw the demons that made our lives hell everyday since we were born, our parents.
They didn't see us and I was so glad. I have never been so terrified of two people like I was them and I still am because I know that they'll never give up looking for us.
But with everything in me, I will never let them near me or my brothers ever again, no matter what.
