Lucifer is seen as a menace to those that don't consider him a friend, known for his ruthlessness and cold-heartedness. As his name alludes he is unforgiving and unwavering in his ways.
What will come of two very different wolves fated together by the moon goddess? One known for helping bring packs together and one known for destroying them. Will they accept each other or will one be rejected by the other? Can Asten break Lucifer's stone demeanor or will he destroy her like those before her?
A/N: This is not meant to be a long book, more like a short story really. There will be sexual scenes throughout this book, you have been warned.
"Asten!" I turned my head quickly almost giving myself whiplash. My best friend ran up to me, breathless, with her hands resting on her knees.
"Monty! You scared me. What's up?"
"Your father. He's requesting you to his office." My brows narrowed and I nodded, thanking her and running off in the direction of the main pack house, to my dad's office.
I knocked lightly then pushed the large, dark mahogany doors open. My father sat at his desk with his head in his hands, his head snapping up as I entered.
"Dad? What's wrong?" I frowned. I had never seen my father stressed, minus when the pack was almost wiped out by a large pack in the north.
He sighed and smiled weakly at me, gesturing for me to sit with him at his desk. He stood and grabbed a glass of whiskey from his wet bar and took his place back behind his desk. "The pack from the north that had almost taken over before is on the move again. They are coming back south. Word of the Alpha's mate being in the south has surfaced and he is now stopping at nothing until he finds her."
My dad's words had me frozen in place. The Alpha's mate? All stories that circulated about him were gruesome and vicious. He was a bad man, cold, unforgiving, merciless. The thought of the person being fated to him made my heart ache for them. No one deserved to live the kind of life he would force them into.
"How long do we have until they come here? Are we going to war again? What are we doing to prepare?" Questions continued to fire from my mouth, my father held his hand up and smiled again gently.
"Your brother should be arriving any minute now. I don't think there will be a war this time, however we will discuss scenarios and plans in case of emergency." I nodded and stood from my chair, excusing myself I walked back downstairs to wait for my brother.
There was a rustling in the bushes behind me, I knew immediately it was my brother. I whipped around and wrapped my arms around his neck. I hadn't seen him in 6 months since he was training at an alpha camp nearby that trained alphas-to-be in order to be the strongest for protecting their packs. Looking him from bottom to top to make sure he was okay, I couldn't help but notice how much taller and broader he had gotten.
"Geez, you sure did become a tank." He laughed and patted my head playfully. "Well one of us has to grow, little Asten," he smirked. I shoved him and stuck my tongue out at him,"Race you back, hater". He growled playfully and we both shifted into our wolves, nipping and snarling at each other childishly all the way back to the pack house.
"What are you two doing?!" Our fathers booming voice made us both come to a screeching halt, dust kicking up in front of us from the momentum. My brother and I both bowed our heads to our father, whimpers softly escaping us. Mom looked at us sympathetically, throwing us some clothes. We turned and changed behind trees, emerging now fully clothed.
"Did we forget about the problem nearly to our doorstep?" I looked at the ground and my brother shook his head. "No father," he stated. "Preston, I expected this to be more urgent to you, if you are to take over my place one day. Your pack may be in danger and you two are playing like children."
I glanced up briefly and wished I hadn't. Preston was bright red while our father was shaking with anger. "Asten, upstairs now. Your brother and I have things to discuss." I snapped my head up,"but dad-" "UPSTAIRS" he roared.
Blinking away my tears, I ran upstairs, slamming my door behind me and flopping onto my windowsill. My room overlooked the garden, a large fountain in the center with a plethora of roses and sunflowers blooming around it. I signed, climbing out of my window and scaling down the roof to the garden.
'Why won't he let me be involved? He told me they were coming. I can help. I'm not a child anymore.' I huffed in my head and walked over to the edge of the fountain. The sound of the water enticed me, I wandered to the small lake nearby and stripped from my clothes to my bare skin. My skin was still hot from my anger and frustration with my father and the overall situation, so stepping into the water was shocking. The water cold and causing goosebumps to rise on my skin, but calming and refreshing me at the same time. I submerged myself in the water and attempted to relax.
After floating and swimming in the lake for longer than I had realized, I stepped out of the lake and smelled an unfamiliar, yet pleasant scent in the air. A breeze blew and twigs snapped nearby. I hurriedly grabbed the oversized shirt I had worn earlier and threw it on, glancing behind me and running straight into a brick wall, or that's what it felt like. Looking up, I gasped. Cold, gray eyes stared back at me, and warmth radiated from the person in front of me.
Panic coursed through my veins as the person reached out for me, I evaded them and ducked away, running as fast as I could, dodging branches and bushes. A low, menacing growl erupted from behind me and I halted to an immediate stop as they appeared in front of me.
"Do not run away from me, little one," they growled, gray eyes swirling black. I panted loudly from the adrenaline and fear coursing through me. I shook my head and backed away, whimpering softly and eyes wide.
He smirked and reached out for me again, I squeaked and ran again which elicited an angry growl from him.
I stopped running again when my lungs burned like a wildfire and it was silent around me. 'I escaped!' I smiled triumphantly and started on my walk back to my room. Suddenly I was grabbed from behind and my mouth covered before I could scream. "Boo," he whispered. Shaking uncontrollably I cursed at myself for being so weak.
"Why are you scared, little one? Do you know who I am? Are you scared of the big bad wolf?" His hot breath caressed my ear and the nape of my neck as he moved his lips to my neck, whispering in a deep voice. "Your heart is about to explode, little wolf." I shivered and whimpered softly, clenching my thighs together as my sex began to slick my thighs at his voice and breath against my skin. This elicited a deep chuckle from him, his chest vibrating as he pulled my hips back against his, I could feel him twitch against my ass as he inhaled deeply against my scent gland.
He smiled against my neck and kissed it lightly, releasing me. As soon as he let go I darted away from him as fast as I could.
As I ran, I heard his deep voice rumble through the woods,"We will meet again soon, little mate."
