Chapter 1

I groan while pulling myself up and grabbing my Backpack heading out of the school building. They really went too far this time, I almost lost consciousness and the pain is irresistible. I wipe off the blood that was drooling down my chin, while I stumble down the alley on my way to my apartment. I suddenly had the urge to vomit and stumbled to the side of the alley where a trash can stood. My bones where aching and telling me to stop, my skin felt like it was on fire and ripping open even more, by every step that I took. I was just a couple of steps away from the trash can, when everything came up and since I didn’t eat anything today, a red yellow mixture, most likely blood mixed with slime, came out of my mouth. Since there wasn’t anybody in the alley, I didn’t feel the need nor have the energy, to contain the ugly sounds I was making while puking. After everything was outside, I continued my walk.

I came to the apartment building that my aunt and I lived in, pulling out my keys and leaning on the door frame, to our apartment, while unlocking the door. I entered the small apartment, while throwing my bag in a corner.

I wasn’t hungry, so I just went to the bathroom to fixed myself up a little. I looked in the mirror and was faced by a girl with long blond hair. My once outstanding, popping green eyes, were now dull and lifeless. A huge, ugly scar that starts on the left side of my face and spreads all the way down to the right side of my chin, barely missing myleft eye and going straight through my lips, was decorating my face. My Aunt Jenifer would always say ‘That’s what makes you, you’. My younger and naiver self believed that bullshit, but not now. I know that it looks terrible, I get reminded of it all the time, by the bullies and by the weird stares that I get everywhere I go.

I wash away the blood of my face, not bothering about any make up, you can see my scar miles away, with or without any make up. I put some band aids on the worst cuts and hurry out of my apartment, I still planed on visiting my aunt after my shift.

McDonalds was filled up and I had a lot of work, I am the cashier, so people can see me and they always look weirdly at me, but I’m used to it.

“Hello, can I have a flurry with Oreo only.” A man that was about fifty years old said. I looked up at him and could see his facial expression changing into a disgusted one. Just pretend that you didn’t notice anything, Lucy, smile and take his order. I did just that and he left.

“Lucy, you may leave now.” Denis, one of my coworkers said, shoving me to the side. I went into the back room and changed back into my regular clothes. I looked at the watch on the wall, eleven-thirty. I left the building and limped my way to the hospital where my aunt is registered.

I walked into the second floor and entered room four hundred and six. My aunt lay on the bed attached to six IVs. I looked at her neck and saw the mark of the rope, with which she wanted to kill herself.
