"Bye, goodnight mom!" I yelled through my door as I got ready to go to bed. We had a family get together earlier that day with all my family from California. My hamster Stella was already up racing on her hamster wheel. Before I go to bed I usually read for an hour or two but tonight I just didn't feel right. That's weird I thought to myself ,I always read. Why do I feel this way? I thought again. Whatever it's probably just because mom left so early. I decided to call my best friend car, short for Carmen. She always takes my mind off of things. The only problem is that I don't know what my mind is on, besides that weird feeling in my gut tugging on my brain aching to tell me something. I'm not sure it knows either. I picked up my phone and dialed her number. "Hey, whats up!?" Carmen squealed into the phone. "Ouch!" I said back. "Oh sorry, I guess I just am happy to hear your voice." Carmen replied "That's okay I get it. I was just gonna tell you, Carmen, that I have this weird feeling in my gut." I said. She paused for a moment then asked, "Is it because your momm left so early tonight?"
I already knew the answer to this question, I had asked myself this before."No, but it kinda makes me feel like something bad is about to happen, and i cant read." I said finally.
“Only something important bugs you enough that you can't read.” She said in a sing-song voice There’s a loud creak like the sound of a door opening. Carmen gasps and suddenly goes quiet. It’s 3:00 A.M. why would someone be paying her a visit right now of all times! “Carmen, are you okay?” I asked unsure. “ I think there’s someone in the house.” She whispered. It's amazing how she can be so calm in a dangerous situation, even an intruder doesn’t faze her at all. I listened carefully into the phone. “April! I hear something, and it's not a human noise at all! You need to come right now! Bring the book!” She was almost shouting now that the noises were getting closer and louder. “Okay! Im coming.” I shouted. I hung up and rummaged like a mad man to find my shoes and grab a jacket. “Dad! Carmen needs me!” I yelled to my dad as I sprinted out the door and around the block.
