Chapter 1

Beep...beep...beep...beep. "Ugh! Die evil beast! Go back to hell!" I can't help but be a little grumpy after not falling asleep until 2 AM. I found a good book and I got lost in it. Sue me. Reading is my favorite pastime. Honestly, nothing is better than putting on headphones, cranking up my favorite tunes, and delving into a great book. Well, maybe not food. I take it back, eating delicious food is my all-time favorite thing. What can I say, a girl got to eat.

After I smack the ever-living hell out of my early morning tormentor, I shuffle my way into the bathroom to take a nice hot shower. After hopping out of the shower, I brushed my teeth and put on my warm vanilla sugar body lotion. Making my way into my room, I sit at my vanity table and do my makeup, keeping it natural. I give my full lips a small pop of color with some lip gloss. Once my makeup is done, I move on to my dark chocolate brown hair.

I opt to brush it and leave it to air dry. I love my hair! It is long and has a natural wave to it. But when it's humid, oh, lord is it a frizzy monstrosity.

I decide to put on some black booty short panties and a matching black bra, before going to my closet. I pick my outfit, deciding to go with some dark blue skinny jeans and a short sleeve dark purple t-shirt. I grab some black chucks and the look is complete.

Now, time for a quick breakfast. Once I get downstairs, I head straight for the kitchen, where my aunt Lydia is with my little cousin Cayden. "Morning Aunt Lydia," I say in a sing-song voice.

"Morning Geni. Sleep well?" she asks me with a bright smile.

"I slept okay. Still a bit tired but I'll live," I reply.

"What am I? Chopped liver?" my cousin asks.

"My bad. Morning shithead!" I reply with an extra cheerful voice, causing my aunt to laugh and my cousin to mumble under his breath.

This is how I am around my family. Sassy, sarcastic, silly, and all-around carefree. But at school, I tend to keep to myself. Unless I'm with my friends. And by friends I mean my best friend Blair and the quiet kid I said I to at the beginning of the school year. He just kind of showed up and sat with us every day at lunch, keeping to himself.

Blair doesn't have a filter or know when to shut up. So lunch mainly consists of her talking, me listening, and a quiet guy listening to music and stealing glances when he thinks we aren't paying attention. We always catch him and try to get him to talk to us. But, he just blushes, gives us a soft smile, and looks away.

I think he has a crush on Blair. Blair is a people person. She can get along with anyone. Of course, the fact that she looks like a model is always helpful too. We are complete opposites. She is tan and blond with blue eyes. She has a slim frame with soft feminine curves and about 5 feet nine inches tall. I on the other hand am pale, brunette with dark brown eyes, thick curves, and am five feet three inches tall.

She has the always sunny personality, where I tend to be shy and reserved unless I get to know you. She is carefree with her diet and rarely works out, never gaining any unwanted weight. I love to eat, but I know that means I have to work out to balance my food lovers' style. Which I don't mind at all. I like to do kickboxing and toning exercises. Just because I'm extra curvy doesn't mean I can't be toned and healthy.

"Hurry up and grab a plate hun. You want me to make you a bag lunch today?" my aunt asks me.

"Yes, please. Thank you!" I respond while I grab a plate full of eggs, toast, and sliced strawberries.

As I eat my breakfast, I make small talk with my aunt and cousin. Once I am finished, I grab my lunch, my purse, and my backpack. I yell out my goodbyes as I leave, making my way to school.

Today is my last day of high school, and I couldn't be more excited. Don't get me wrong, the school work wasn't bad, and I got good grades, but the people... I lose a little bit of faith in humanity and a few brain cells having to interact with some of them daily. I really can't stand the drama of who stole who's boyfriend, and who slept with who at what's their faces party.

And that's just the girls. The guys are just as bad if not worse. Chasing after girls who won't put out for any guy who isn't on a sports team. Betting each other who can bag who, or who can pop that girl's cherry.

Those are just the normal students. The popular kids pick their weekly or daily targets. Making their lives a living hell just so they can feel better about themselves or maintain their popular status. It's all irrelevant. No one gives a rat's ass about anyone but their friends after high school. And eventually, they slowly lose each other due to their new lives and other responsibilities as they grow older.

Needless to say, I am so glad today is my last day. Freedom! Sweet sweet freedom! The only thing left after today is graduation. That I am looking forward to. I worked hard to be a straight-A student and I'm proud of myself. I don't think there is anything wrong with being proud of one's accomplishments.
