Chapter 1

The scene in front of me is as breathtaking as ever. The sky—a beautiful orange-red blend. I close my eyes, and I smile.

I feel so calm... It's as if I'm floating...

I soon drift to a light sleep.

"Alex!" I jolt awake and look around. My eyes land on an aproaching figure. Oh. It's him. I roll my eyes annoyed and uninterested.

"Hello, Jake." I reply, my tone very much showing my feelings towards him being here.

"Aww, what's with the pouty face?"

I turn to Jake almost immediately and shout, "I'm not pouting, you idiot!"

"Sure." He replies, and I just frown. "Anyways," Jake continues, "Mom and dad want to see you."

"What for?" I ask.

"They want to talk to you about something."

"What something?" I ask, slightly annoyed.

"I don't know, don't ask me. They just sent me out here to get you, not to answer your questions."

My face morphs into one of major annoyance. "Jake!"

"Come on, we have to get going." Jake says while smiling.

"Fine." I say simply as I cross my arms.

"We're home!" I yell out, letting mom and dad know.

I walk into the kitchen to find a wonderful smell. I smile, "Hey mom, dad. What is it you want to talk about?" I ask curiously. Mom and dad immediately stop in their tracks.

"Sweetie, we believe you should stop going out to the mountains to watch the sun set. You could be arrested for suspicious behavior." Mother says, concerned.

"It's only suspicious behavior, what can they do?" I reply.

"Alexander, you know how serious they are when it comes to the gate." Father says sternly.

"I'm nowhere near the gate." I roll my eyes.

"Don't roll your eyes at me, Alexander." Father says with an angry look in his eyes.

"Honey, calm down," Mother said as she faces father, "Alex, just listen to me, alright?"

I look down.

My face blank, but my mind raging. What should I do? How should I answer? Do I listen, or do I not listen? What do I do?

I look up and smile. "Ok, mom!" I say. Mother smiles back.
