1st hunger games

Why is that alarm going off so early? I thought as I rolled out of bed and turned off the alarm, I looked at the calendar and saw what today was, the first ever reaping day, A few months ago Panem got together and tried to overthrow the Capitol, the Capitol won and now once a year a girl and boy tribute would be chosen and would go into the hunger games where they would fight to death, the Capitol did this to show Panem who was in control. I walked over to the dresser and grabbed a black shirt and a dirty pair of jeans, I pulled them on and walked to our table where my mom had put the goat cheese, under a wooden bowl so the rats would not get into it. I quickly grabbed the cheese and put on my leather jacket my father had given to me and walked out of the door, I walked through District 12, all the blinds where closed and no one was walking around, normally there are people walking towards the mines, but today was the day one girl and boy would be chosen so you might as well get as much sleep as you can, I got to the gate that surrounded District 12, it was supposed to keep wild animals out and Citizens in but it did not, I walked over to the hole in the bottom of the gate and crawled under the gate, Once I was under I walked through the trees toward the apple orchard where I had been meting Hayden and Khloe, today we agreed that we where going to prepare the fruits and butter some bread so we can give them out before the Reaping, I came into the clearing and saw Hayden slicing bread and Khloe cut and separated fruits into different jars. Hayden saw me and gave me some bread as I gave him some goat cheese and I spread the cheese on the bread and ate it. Hayden said " You guys ready for the reapings?"
