Chapter 1
“Athena! Wake up we have to go soon” someone yells from outside my door. I roll onto my back and look up at the ceiling. Me, Callisa (my sister), Rose and Abby (our two friends) were going to Italy today for vacation. We were going in celebration of me and Abby just finishing college. I had taken business as my major but had law and dance as my minors. I only took dance because Abby convinced me too. She was a creative student. Music, dance, and theatre. I turn my head and look at my black suitcase that was stood next to my door. My travel clothes were sat on top of it ready for me to put on. I sigh before forcing myself to get out of bed. I make my bed before starting to put my clothes on. A pair of shorts and a long top with long sleeves. I tie my hoodie round my waist and slip my shoes on. My hair was braided the night before by Rose who was a beautician and makeup artist. I grab my hat and the handle of my suitcase before leaving my room. Before I could step out Callisa went darting past me. The girls were all running back and forth from there bedrooms and the shared bathroom. I shake my head at them before dragging my suitcase down the staircase. I put my stuff near the door before heading into the kitchen. I do myself a small bowl of cereal and a glass of water. I could never eat much before flying or I would be sick. I could hear the other three yelling and hair dryers being turned on and off. After finishing my breakfast, I washed my bowl and glass and put them away. I dint wanna come home to a mess when we came back in two weeks. I go to the bottom of the stairs and yell up to them “are you girls done yet!?”
“NO” they all yell back. I shake my head and walk up the stairs. I had forgotten my carry on. I grab my backpack and put my favourite book in, my headphones, my iPad, and my laptop before shoving my phone into my pocket. I look around my room to make sure I had not forgotten anything. I had not, so I zipped up my backpack and threw it on my back. I then head into the now empty bathroom. I brush my teeth and use my sister’s makeup that she was not bringing with her (which was only because it was the stuff she did not like) and i apply some blush, lip gloss and mascara. If I did not wear mascara id look like I had no eyelashes. I have long lashes but their blonde like my hair. My hair was a darker shade of blonde then my sister, but I had the lighter eyes. Mine were grey while hers where a dull blueish hazel colour. Somehow her eyes were still prettier than mine. In my opinion she was prettier than me full stop. She was thinner than me with more defined features. I had more curves, with big thighs and ass and big boobs but not as big as hers. I had full cheeks that were always rosy and thinner lips then her, but they were still decent. For Greek girls we were both quite pale naturally, but my sister liked to tan. I walk out after washing my hands to see three annoyed girls. “what?” I say to them. “Why are you taking so long? Well miss our flight!” Rose says to me. I just shake my head. She was like the mom of the group and since I was the youngest, I was often blamed for them running behind. We are here a horn beep from outside. “the cars here!” rose says as she makes her way downstairs. I follow. We each grab our sunglasses that we left by the front door and leave. We had an early flight, so it was still dark out. I helped get bags in the car while Callisa locked up. We piled into the car with Rose at the front with the driver. I watched the houses go by as we drove towards the airport, watching as there was less and less houses and more and more trees. It was about a 20-minute drive to the airport; it did feel like less though.
We thanked the driver, and all piled out, each grabbing our bags. We ran inside trying to get out of the cold night air. “Abby, your passport and ticket, Callisa here’s yours and here’s yours Athena” Rose said as she handed us our things. She did not trust us to keep them safe, so she kept them with her. We went to check in and I went first. My bag was taken, and I thanked the lady at the desk. I waited for the others before we went up to security. “hi mam, boarding pass please?” the man asked me. I smiled and handed it to him. He let me through, and I went on to the next stage of the security checks. I put my iPad laptop and phone in one bin while my bag went into another. I walked through the metal detector and thanked the man when he handed me my bag and my technology. I put the things back in their places and walked through to the shopping and restaurant area to wait for the others. I waited for about five minutes before they appeared. “let’s get something to eat we have an hour and a half before our flight.” Callisa says as she drags us over to the burger king. The girls each order their food but I just order a bottle of water and an ice cream. We wait patiently while the food is made. Callisa pays and we each grab our food before sitting at a table. We eat silently together for about half hour. “do you girls need to get anything from the duty free” I ask while finishing off my ice cream. “yea, I forgot my headphones and my toothbrush.” Abby says, dusting her hands together. Callisa and Rose both say they forgot there toothbrushes too. I was smart I packed an unopened one in my luggage days ago. We throw our rubbish away and head towards the duty free. The girls go to get toothbrushes while I go and get a pack of gum. I could not stand when my ears popped so I chew gum while we take off. I go to check out and pay for the gum. “will you stop leaving us??” I hear from behind me. I turn around and see the other three coming out. “its not my fault you girls take so long” I say as we walk over to the lounge chairs. They do not respond. We sit down and I pull out my phone. We sit for about twenty minutes before I need to pee. “I’m gonna go bathroom, be right back” I say to them. “once you get back, we will go to the gate” they yell as I walk. I dismiss them with my hand while still walking. It took me a minute to find the bathroom but once I do I do my business and I wash my hands. I look in the mirror to fix myself up before leaving. As I was leaving, I saw something I wasn’t expecting. A man. He had a powerful aura around him. He was intimidating and definitely didn’t need the two bodyguards that were trailing behind him. He had black pushed back hair and dark almost black eyes. He was tanned with an olive undertone. His jaw was so sharp it could cut me and his stubble on his chin and jaw was perfect. He had a slightly crooked nose, but it still looked good, and his eyebrows were full and dark. He had a grimace on his face like someone had just pissed him off. I watched him go like it was slow motion. He didn’t even spare me a glance. I walked back to the girls with my mouth open ever so slightly. “do you girls see that guy?” I ask as I get back. I pick up my bag and put it on my back. They look at each other confused. “no, was he hot?” Callisa asks. “extremely. Now what gate do we need to go to” I say as I walk over to the board with all of the flights. I look for our flight. “gate 5” I say as I look around “this way” I say as we start walking. It didn’t take long to reach our gate. 15 minutes till boarding. We stand in the already growing que. “you girls have everything right?” Rose asks. We all nod. “We are going to boarding the plane early today ladies and gentlemen. Please have your boarding passes and your passports ready” the woman said who was stood in front of the gate. Soon the que started moving. We reached the front and once again I went first. The flight attendant pointed us towards our seats, and we got ourselves settled. “I wonder why we are boarding early” I ask Abby who was next to me. Rose and Callisa where behind us. “maybe there’s a rich businessman on board who demanded to leave early” callisa said, standing up and putting her head between our seats. “don’t be stupid and sit back down, well be taking of soon.” I say as I push her down. I make sure there actually sat and buckled in before buckling myself in. we wait until everyone is on board before the plane makes its way to the runway. The flight attendants walk up and down the aisle making sure everyone is secure. They do the safety run through and the pilot does a quick announcement about joining them for the 2-hour flight from Santorini national airport to Palermo airport Sicily Italy. I mumble a god protect us in Greek as we prepare to take off. I did not like flying.
