Sorrows of a great love lost
I saw your face again for the first time in years last night. My feelings for you each passing day haven't waivered. I still remember the first night we met how the moon shone high in the sky bright and full. My heart skipped an honest beat. I jumped on the trampoline and thought I couldn't get much higher then I saw you smile. Gravity had no hold on me in that moment I thought wow maybe the butterflies I feel will carry me away. In that moment the chill in the night didn't feel so bothersome. Winter had no effect in the goosebumps on my skin that was all you. You smiled and chuckled at how childish I was to try and get your attention. From that moment on I knew I was in trouble. For weeks on end we would be inseparable. I still remember the time you introduced me to your friends I was so nervous to speak for fear they wouldn't like me but you put that all to rest when you told them you loved me out loud for the very first time. Once again gravity hailed in comparison to the butterflies. If I didn't find something to hold on to I would surely float away. The sparkle in your eyes when we talked endlessly for hours, the shape of your lips I loved to feel pressed against mine. The raw emotions and secrets revealed I kept to myself I confided in you and you held onto so tight never to tell another living soul. It was all too perfect. I miss the way the corners of your eyes would crinkle when you smiled. I miss the way you would roll over in the night and grab me just to pull me closer and snore gently into my hair. The way you held me I will never forget I felt like the luckiest girl in the world. One day things just weren't the same we didn't speak as often. You always had something going on. But you promised. You said you'd always be there. You weren't. I didn't get the chance to see you as often as I would have liked because I had no way there. We started talking on the phone less but my feelings never wavered. I decided to call you one last time and try to talk to you like we used to, to try and explain the situation but you were too busy. Too busy to hear me. That's when I knew. My feelings towards you never changed even after all this time. I still remember your warm gentle embrace. The softness of your kiss. The way you promised me forever. I'm sorry. I just want you to hear those 2 final words I've been wanting you to hear for years now. I'm sorry. You won't forgive me you won't understand but it is with those final 2 words I may be able to release you from my heart and memories finally hopefully put you in your box on the shelf in my heart where you belong. Please understand I love you until the end of time but I need you to stop haunting my mind and taking little pieces of me everywhere you go. Please hear my words my cries of despair I love you. I never meant to hurt you please understand and forgive me. Let me go. I love you. Forgive me. I'm sorry.
