Eerie Night
The chilly August wind blows lose a few crisp autumn leaves. The light of the full moon can be seen shining through the nearly bare branches, giving way to the path of an almost empty park, adding a rather dreary feeling. As I sit here under a weeping willow tree staring up at an illuminating sky, something wet and warm rolls down my cheek. Reaching up, I swipe at my cheek, brushing away the escaped tear, the only sign into my eternal struggle of pain.I felt like a tainted rose, a flower once pure and white. Now I was darkened by the evil that held me captive. Gosh, leaning my head back, I place my right arm over my eyes. Letting loose a sigh, I wonder how things could have changed so drastically. In reality it's only been two years, yet it feels as if a thousand have passed. I’m uncertain of how much longer I can survive this, I only know I have too, so that the ones I love the most in this world can live on. This blood debt wasn’t created by me, yet I’m the only one who is willing to pay it off, even at the cost of my soul. I knew my curse would eventually destroy me, I just never imagined it would be in this way.
Howl's mixed with hunger fill the air, breaking the silence of a once dreary place. By the fear licking across my skin, it would appear I’m not the only one testing the fates by coming out tonight. A murderous intent carries across the wind, as a scene unseen by others befalls my sight, consuming me.
Heart racing, sweat beading, limbs numb these are the last things I feel before I lose myself within.
Branches scratch, tearing flesh, blood seeps from the open wounds. Pulse racing, heart feels as if it would explode, from the fear pulsing through me, but the fear doesn’t slow me down it’s propelling me forward. Howl's’ fill the air, as death nips at my heels. I tire, but to stop would mean my slaughter. I continue to run through what seems to be never ending woods, wishing for a rescue I know will never come. All the while cursing my stupidity, leaving the manor, deceiving my sister. I realize too late as the rogue beasts descend upon me, how my sister only did what she did every full moon to protect me. The werewolves tear into my flesh, with their sharp fangs ripping the remaining clothes from my body. If there is any mercy in this world I hope to be granted death soon, and my sisters’ forgiveness.
Like an elastic rubber-band retracting, I snap back into myself with great force. Taking a second to reflect on what I have seen, I remember a sign. If I timed it right I could save the girl. Swiftly standing, I take a deep breath, before gathering the air around me, using it to propel me toward the sign I had seen in the vision. Climbing up a sturdy tree, crouching on a sturdy branch, awaiting the rouges’ arrival. Within seconds of the pureblood girl racing past, faster than any mundane eyes could follow, I struck. Jumping from the branch, I unsheath the blade from between my shoulder blades, drawing it above my head. I strike the first rouge. As I impact, the rogue that had been on it’s right flank attempts to attack me, unaware. Stupid move mutt. Just before it sinks its fangs into my shoulder, I grab it around the throat, snapping it, throwing the vile creature to the side like the trash it is. I draw my blade from the first rogue's corpse, hearing a shriek from behind me. I turn on my heels, sending the sword flying across the air, impacting the third and final rogue, who had cornered the girl up a tree. Walking up to the tree, I am caught unaware by talons digging in deep down, shredding the flesh upon my back. Pissed as hell, and seeing red I drew the blade to me. twisting around, I take more talons to the front, as I drive the blade into the chest cavity, piercing the heart. Giving it a kick, releasing its death from my blade.
“Get up from that motherfucker!” damn rabid rouge werewolves grow stronger with each full moon they experience, this one must have gone through alot to heal that quickly from a snapped neck. Turning and looking up into the tree, I spot the girl at least thirty feet up on a thick branch cowering as close as she can get to the trunk whimpering in fear.
“You can come down, you know? There isn’t anymore. You’re safe now.” This is all I can offer her in the way of comfort. As the adrenaline dissipates from my body, the gravity of my wounds hits me, like a slap in the face. Clutching the hilt of my sword I fall to my knees. The girl cub jumps down, landing perfectly on her feet beside me.
“Are you okay, savor?” she kneels at my side, concern fills her face as she takes in my injuries and a different type of fear overtakes her features. I plan to tell her that I'm perfectly okay, yet when I open my mouth to speak a coughing fit begins a crimson stream of blood spilling across my lips, before my eyes close giving into the darkness that had been poking at my conscience.
