Chapter 1 INTRUDER

"There is a woman in the palace, bring her to me",

Her voice spoke like in a whisper.
This was not how she had always spoken. But as the years went by, after losing most of those she called her own, she had gone into a state of quietness. Although some would say loneliness.
There were very few who knew her well. well enough to guess her every word even when she spoke as if talking to herself.
One of them was brunee, the captain General of the army in the entire empire.
With a raise of her hand beckoning the royal guards to leave immediately at her command. she had said, "there is a woman in the palace bring her to me."
General Brunee had left without a second thought to the west side of the palace to get the intruder. as his underlings and some royal guards went along with him.
"Why are we heading towards the west General if I may ask"
Mantt had asked running quick to catch up.
turning to answer at the corner of his right eye Brunee replied.
"Since you already asked, and I might as well tell you seeing you might hold a great destiny after all,
In this kingdom where the poor could be rich and the ruling class any day and the rich could be displaced and down to the lowest class as paupers."
He took a deep breath. "I have seen this happen over and over again in all my year's here.
"
"Mantt, I know this simply because the Empress glanced towards the west once, when she spoke."
" but I didn't notice" Mantt replied.
"That is why you must pay more attention form now o if you want to become great someday."
"Commander why do you think I hold a great destiny?"
"I saw how you survived the Qhinn tournament, one might have dismissed it to luck but since a don't believe in luck I look you up with the lamp destinies, and they told me all I needed to know"
(the lamp destinies are a fraction of the royal oracle's a small but very impressive also an important part of the seers they could gaze into anyone's future and they were hardly ever wrong, while the Qhinn tournamentis is a careful selection of slaves believed to be special by engaging in a brutal fight to the death.)
The Lamp destinies had told Brunee that Mantt would ascend to the captain of the royal guards in a few short years, they had even given him the specific time, in four years from the time he hd consulted them and that was a year ago.
of course he wouldn't tell Mantt this, he thought as they passed by the connecting bridge between the central palace and the west.
now they were at the west area and the moon was high up in the sky.
Brunee took a deep breath as he looked up. What is really going to happen in the next four years.
The prophesy has troubled him, but he knew that prince shalonn would ascend the throne as the Emperor, then what happens to the Empress would she retire as she had planned and let the prince rule at his coming of age on his eighteenth birthday,.
Up there up there screamed of of the royal guards. there was a lady on the roof long black hair. Her dark eyes glitter in the moon light and she tried increasing her steps as she ran across the roof leading to the central palace.
She panick as she saw more of the royal guards gather from all the other nearby wings. She wasn't going to let them catch her now she thought to herself.
She had so much to live for, she had to live, she only wanted an audience with the Empress but no one would grant her an appointment
.
This was the only option she had. To sneak into the Empress chambers when the guards would leave the Empress palace to let her sleep.
As she escaped her thoughts played back to her, an ugly pasty he didnt want to remember. She shook he ea to Tay focused, she could hear her heart beat increase like a loud thud on a drum.
Her foot slip and she started rolling down the roof as she was about to reach the edge, falling, she grabbed the edge of the roof, as the royal guards approach her.
The walk to the palace was a long one, it had been years, fifteen long years she had seen White lotus, her sister.
Over the years she had found a reason to come see her and yet she had found other reasons more not to come. As time went by the other reasons became stronger in her mind, she had decided not to see her and had stayed away from her sister completly.
But circumstances and life had made sure they would cross parts once again.
Now as she walked every step, she wished she had reached out sooner. At least she wasn't going to die now, she had wondered why the guards had not kill her right there on the spot
.
But where were they taking me, in her guts she could feel it, and it was getting closer, if what she was thinking was true then she would finally have an audience with the Empress.
"Kneel before your Empress!" prince Cawlyn yelled. he was Brunee's assistant the first assistant commander and the commander of the royal guards.
He was a loud man and strong. He was huge and had a very strong built, his family who ruled over the green province the kingdom of SHAR, they had sworn loyalty to the Empire and helped in building it to what it now was.
They supplied all the food the entire palace and the fifteen surrounding kingdoms needed year in and year out. They had pledged to do this and had never defaulted since the day the pledge was made by Rhor Shar their fore father.
"Would you sneak in like a thief." the Empress spoke and the room fell silent.
They said she had a cold chill around her like death in the night but it wasn't so, though rumour was good, the rumours made the entire empire fear her and kingdoms from far would not dare to attack her Empire.
There was peace in her reign. people fear to do anything implicating that would lead them to face trial at the imperial courts. The little crimes persisted but they would never grow beyond that and she couldn't care less about the petty little things anymore as she had more issues at hand.
The empress looked straight at her captive, she would speak and take long pauses, as she was wont to do, as if she was observing the situation.
"look up!" she said.
"Su sun"( pronounced su soon),
Su sun looked up, the empress beckoned her to rise.
As she rose the Empress turned to Brunee.
"Clear the room."
Brunee moved mmediately to do as he was told and proceeded to tell them to keep their mouths shut about the intruder they had caught in the west area of the palace untill Futher instructions from the Empress.
