LINGERED PAST
ELIJAH
A B C D, and the other 22 letters, 0 1 2, and the other seven numbers, in a row, etched onto the wood with yes and no on each side of the board and finally an oval piece of smoothened bark with a hole in the centre. I’ll never forget how it looked. How it made me feel. The one memory that lingered in my mind, the constant déjà vu of that one day. Noah sat across from me and Imogen on my right, she was the one who begged us to play with the game. And, of course, Noah gave in, while it took her continuous bribes to convince me. I knew from the moment we opened the Ouija board it would shadow us with regret. And as always, I was right. Just placing your hand on the planchette, one touch, just opening the board and you could never escape the eyes of the dead.
