Chapter 1
Somewhere in the town….
A woman of 25 enters the house by ringing the door bell and waits for the person to open….she is here to deliver the pizza to the owner…she has been waiting for someone to open for more than 10 minutes but on one comes out…she bangs the door but to her horror the door is not locked but it was jammed…then hears the someone wincing in pain and crying for help…she pushed the door forcedly….she slowly enters the door and goes to the hall where she is shocked to see the scenery in front of her….there is woman of 50 laying on the floor in pool of blood….the woman turns her face to delivery girl who is standing there numb…..she calls her and asks for helps….the deliver girl keeps the pizza on the table and goes towards the woman in rush…she knees down and holds her hand and sees where the blood is coming…..the blood is coming from her head badly and slowly the woman is losing her conscious…the girl panics and couldn’t do anything…she looks around to find a piece of cloth so that she can stop the blood. But it was too late and woman dies leaving her hand…shockingly the girls gets up and doesn’t know what to do…then the someone barges inside the door and ask the girl to stands behind by not touching anything…the girl looks at the entrance and sees many policer officers who were pointing gun at her….she slowly moves back by rising her hand in air…the officer comes and pulls her side and some officers knees down near the woman and checks to see if she is alive or not but she is already death….the girl is still in shock and looks at the dead body without blinking her eyes….the officers hand cuffs her and takes her out…the whole place has been sealed….the girls is taken custody….
At the police station…
The girl gets grilled about the murder and police asks why she killed her….the girl keeps telling them that she didn’t do anything…she was there to deliver the pizza and saw the woman laying on ground with blood around her…the woman was asking help and she was trying to do find something so that she can stop the blood…but it was too late and she died there….before she could call someone the police came….the police didn’t believe her and tried to confess her the truth about the murder but she kept telling them that she didn’t do the murder….she was put in jail as the investigation was going on…the police didn’t find any clue….even they thought the girl didn’t do anything but the public was demanding the authorities to punish her as she killed the most famous person…due to pressure the police comes with the terms and tried to stage the whole thing and put the blame on the girl as they found her on the spot at the crime scene…her fingerprints were found on her body which it means that she killed her….the girl pleaded to the police to leaves her but no one listened to her…..
After 6 months the trial was going on and all clues were against her….the prosecutor tries to convince the Jude and other jury that the girl murdered the woman….there was no one in the house then how come she says that she didn’t do it.. police already searched the whole place and they have found her bike near the tree which is little far away from the house... she walked all the way to the house to kill the woman and to run back and thinking that no one will suspect her… The girl shouts from her place and tells the judge that she didn’t do it…she is innocent and someone is trying to frame her in this murder…she pleads the judge not prove her guilt…..
After lot of arguments the girls lawyer pleads the judge to give one more and to handover the case to someone higher authority as this case has many loopholes. The only thing they are here to say that the girl was at the wrong place at the wrong time…the girl already lost hope on this but still feels that someone will find the truth behind it….the judge gives one last look to the poor girl and gives the extension to reinvestigate this whole thing…as he still feels that something definitely wrong in this case….new team will be appointed to this case and will investigate…they have to produce new evidence to the court as soon as possible otherwise the girl will be given a life sentence….the lawyer takes brief of sign and looks back at the poor girl who passes a weak smiles to him….
So, the case is finally handover to the special officer who will try to prove her innocence………
Some days Later…
At the station….
The man keeps the files on the table with thud and sits on the chair with annoyed face….the other man comes and sits besides him as he knows he is not in the good mood to talk to anybody about the case…
“So, tell me why are you behaving like this since we came here in the station…” ask the man to the other man who is looking through the files…
“Well the case has been handover to higher authority and our captain wants me to his assistant…” says the man with annoying face…
“Come on Vikram…everyone knows how good you are in the cases…the captain must have thought about something that’s why he assigned you with the higher authorities…after all you are the best…” says his friend while drinking coffee..
V – yes Vipul….but this is open and shut case…and don’t need anything on this…then why they appointing the new teams…..this case already have a killer who they have caught at the crime scene…even some evidence are against her….i don’t know why they extended this case for more days…as we are not going to find anything in this…
V – well…I know…but it’s our duty to cooperate…and if the higher officer finds nothing then it will be closed once for all…. just give it one try again….
Vikram nods his head lightly and arranges the files for the higher officers who is coming to the station any movement to discuss about this case…he arranges everything and goes to the break room to get some coffee…
Somewhere at the coffee shop…
“Why are you trying to give me this case….” says the Woman of 27 and drinks her coffee…
“This girl needs your help, our help…the whole case is trapped one…she didn’t do anything except for standing there at the wrong place…..i am telling you this girl had nothing to do with this murder…but if you investigate in this case truth will be out…” says Man…
“Looks Rahul…I know she is you client and I am your friend but doesn’t mean she is innocent her…I already heard about this case…..she is the one who done it…it’s just a open and shut case but due to public and police of their lack of investigation it became more complicated….they should have punished her on very the first day when they found her at the house…” says the woman with irritating look…
R – I know…but just do me favour plzzz….i have done many things for you…so plzz…help this girl…what if someone else was in that house….? what if someone done murder….? if that proves right.. then what we will do….? aren’t we all trying to frame the innocent one….? the court has given us second chance and I am not going to loose this…(before the woman speaks ) just take a look on it…if you find any unusual proceed with the case but if don’t then she will be proven guilty…..and this case will closed forever…
The woman thinks for a while and then yes to the investigation…she drinks her coffee and goes to the station where the officers had done investigation before…
At the Station…
After sometime a lady comes inside the station and directly goes to the captain cabin….the captain welcomes the woman with happy face and asks her to sit….then he calls Vikram….
Vikram quickly runs inside the cabin and greets his captain…then his eyes fells on the woman who is talking to the captain about the case….
C – Vikram….( looking at him ) meet Haseena Malik…special officer…she is here to work on the case about the murder…..( then to Haseena ) and Miss Malik meet Vikram…our investigating officer….he is in charge of this case and also will be assigning you….
H – well I don’t need anyone…I am here on the court orders…but if I need any help, I will let you know…
C – sure….( stands and forwards his hand ) welcome aboard officer and all the best…
Haseena smiles and shakes hand with him…then Vikram takes her to his desk and gives her all the files regarding about the case…Haseena takes a sits and starts to read the files…
“Shivani Roy, is well known for her novels, essays and short stories….she loves to write about mystery and thriller stories…she was born in London and relocated to India….she is struggling writer and her work was initially rejected by the publishers until her biggest success…today she is one of top most authors of all the time…” Haseena reads the file about the author…
H – cause of death…
V – injury at the back of the head…it looks like the killer banged her head with something solid….
H – hmm…( looking at him ) did you find the murder weapon…
V – no…but we feel like the girl must have destroyed the weapon before the police arrived at the crime spot…. but we found some sharp object at her bag…. but wound on her head and object doesn’t belong...
H – (reading the case file) here it says that Shivani is the one tried to call the police when she was being murdered at her home…is that true…(looking at him )
V – yup that’s true…we have recorded message where she told the police that someone is at her house and trying to harm her…she couldn’t tell who the person is…. before she could say any further details, the officer on the other side heard the sound of someone banging on her head and her phone falls down…and the rest is history…
H – when the police reached the house what they saw in first place...
V – well when the local police reached there…they are already noticed the door was open from inside…so there was no force of entry and also heard the movement inside the house…the officer who was near the window saw someone moving near the body as if the killer trying to do something or looking…once they all got the signal, they barraged inside and shocked to see the girl at the condition as well as Mrs. Shivani Roy body in pool of blood…
H – how could you tell that the girl killed the woman…did you find anything on her hand…or near her…
V – no…nothing…. the police found nothing near her nor on her…we also talked to some officers when they bought the girl here for the investigation... seeing the body the girl didn’t moved from the place and her hands were covered with all blood…. forensic team found the fingerprints of that girl on her body…so it implies that she is the one killed Shivani Roy….
H – but according to enquiry she said that she was there to deliver pizza to the owners…was trying help the victim when she was in pain….
V – yes…but her motive was to kill her…delivering the pizza is for diverting officers……if she saw the body then why she didn’t call the police…. she should have informed anyone of us…but did nothing….
H – did you find anything…near the house...
V – nope…we didn’t…find anything except for her bike and her bag….the whole place is messed up as if she was trying to rob the whole place…we tried to find murder weapon but still it’s unknown…
H – so you still think it’s the girl who killed the author…
V – yes…because some neighbours told us that someone was there at the night of murder….the girl was there the whole time….
H – well maybe she was trying to help the old woman like she said in her defence…but due to lack of clues we are running behind…the only proof is that she was at the spot and no one knows what really happened…
V – I still think...it’s not a big case…they should have given her guilty…its just a open and shut case…I don’t know why they made this case more complicated….
H – ( closes the file and looks at him ) sometimes there is more to the story. What we see doesn’t mean that’s the only truth. There are many thing around it which we failed to notice…our only aim to catch this killer and to punish her but thing is there is something else which we didn’t see it….i think there was someone on that night at that house during murder…
V – so you think…she was at the wrong at the wrong time..
H – I am not saying….but maybe there some chances that she must be telling the truth..
V – so what we do…where do we start…
H – (takes out the photo of girl from the file ) well I want to talk to this girl beofre we conclude anything as I want to know her side of the story.. Can you tell me about this suspect…?
“Karishma Singh…age of 25…..working as pizza delivery for the big bang pizza…she had no one….she is living at the hostel and looking for the perfect job…according to the report she was there for the delivery and police found her with bloody hands…her only quote is she didn’t do anything and she is innocent…her boss told us that she was at the neighbouring street for delivering the pizza but had no idea what she was doing there…and why she killed Shivani Roy…..”
“Whatever happened…it happened during that night before Karishma entered the scene…. maybe she was trapped in all of this…maybe there something to the whole thing….”Haseena says while looking at the photo of Karishma…
