Two Strangers
There’s a moment
Between me & you.
Where I know that you aren’t for me
& that you’ll know that I’ll never face that time.
My friends say I should “read” you.
And I know you don’t love me.
I know that everyday that goes
You forget me, who I am.
Although, I like to remind you.
Sit with you and tell all the reasons why you should, you should adore me.
I see you fade away….
I just wanna lay there in the moments
Where you let me love you.
How you lost time with me & told me
Little secrets as I held you.
I enjoyed the feeling of giving you my thoughts
How we’d get lost in laughter
( I miss your laugh)
With you I was supposed to grow old.
Where we ran through fields
And end up with a sky to light the night.
Where our hands ended up together.
(That’s all lost, lost like you.)
We were supposed to grow old together.
But I am not them.
I am not her
I am not your past.
I am not you present
& more than ever
As much as I wish to be
As much as I yearn for your love
As I grieve for you
More than anything to be loved by you
To feel just an once of it.
I am not your future.
But if you’re ever alone
If you ever feel low
& you think of me?
I’ll reach for you too.
